Conor McGregor is a showman, a tough customer and a brilliant mixed martial artist. On Saturday night in Las Vegas he showed he could box too. But not nearly well enough to beat Floyd Mayweather, one of the all-time greats of the game.
Mayweather, out of retirement at age 40, won the fight on a 10th round TKO to take his record to 50-0. McGregor, a 4-1 underdog with bookies, but 100-1 with many boxing experts, proved he wasn’t hopelessly overmatched in a sport he had never before competed in professionally.

Good pics of the fight. I posted some immediately following the win, but they were too blurry.
The fight was better than expected. McGregor showed some boxing, but mostly amateur. He had skills from MMA, Massive MMA skills.
Mayweather stayed away from a Heavy Left and survived the first few rounds. He basically gave those rounds away. From the 4th through the 10th, Mayweather pressed the Irishman. Floyd kicked his but from that point.
The 9th was the telling roung and the 10th was dessert for Mayweather. Floyd ate him up like a chocolate sundae. A knockout was inevitable.

This was a good fight, better than I expected even. I was expecting Mayweather to have an easy night, but Mcgregor was a surprise and I think he had more success than many have with Floyd, but it could have been because of the way Mayweather chose to fight - with a more come forward style.
I thought McGregor would have a difficult time because of the physical size of the boxing gloves (and Mayweathers exceptional defence). But he was getting through with some of those uppercuts.
I think what ultimately may have let him down was just being heavier muscled which makes more sense for a UFC guy. But with boxing where you have to throw and throw, heavier arms can be a disadvantage in later rounds.

Mayweather showed him how the game is played. He tried but his efforts were not good enough to stop the Money Man. Had the referee not stop the fight when he did, it could've been a clean KO and not TKO.

But it was the right decision to stop the fight since he attacked him for a minute straight without any reaction.
