So, what was in the bag? Was it a trap?

In our last round, there was some sort of blue object hanging up ahead in the bushes. It could be something useful, but it could also be a trap. This was a tricky situation. Let's see what the teams chose and how it worked out for them.

DAY 2 ROUND 1 RESULTS

OPTION 1 - Cautiously approach the object and see if there is anything useful in it.

Some of the teams chose to cautiously approach the object and check it out. This could have been a fatal move, but fortunately, no one was around and the bag was not booby-trapped.

As it turns out, the object was a backpack full of interesting items. Most of them were spare computer parts and such, which are of little use with the power grid down, but one item stuck out as extremely useful, a loaded pistol with five rounds in it.

Whoever left it here must have left it here recently, as the bag does not even look like it was rained on. The teams who chose this option decided that they might as well take the whole backpack, but it was tied onto the branch in a most peculiar way. This troubled the teams and made them decide to draw the pistol just in case.

While the teams were trying to get the backpack off of the branch, a rustling in the bushes started off in the distance. Slowly but surely, it began to get closer. Rather than encountering the unknown or having someone with more firepower come out at them, these teams chose to flee with their lives, but still got a pistol and five rounds out of the deal.

OPTION 2 - Get away from this area as quickly as possible.

The rest of the teams chose to play it safe and keep going without checking out the blue object. They may have missed out on the pistol, but they still have their lives... for now. To see which teams chose this option please check out the comment section below.

DAY 2 ROUND 2 SCENARIO

Some teams have a backup food supply, but all the teams will need to eat before the end of the day in order to survive. This puts many of them in a desperate situation. A lot of the plants in this part of the woods are not edible, and are currently providing no help. There must be something edible somewhere out here.

As the teams continue to walk and search, they hear some branches cracking up ahead. It is cannibals? Is it a friendly survivor? Slowly and cautiously, they peek forward through the trees.

Up in a clearing ahead, there is a doe whitetail deer. She is a good distance off, but not too far. The teams with the pistol may have the advantage here, but there must be a way for the other teams to try to kill and eat it. Maybe the teams with the pistol would rather not risk a gunshot too.

Looking around for potential hunting weapons, there are only rocks and sticks. Some of the sticks have sharp ends though. Could they be used as a spear? Throwing a makeshift spear could be risky though, but maybe one of the teammates could sneak around behind the deer while the other teammate distracted the deer prior to driving it towards the other one. The deer is already suspicious and looking this way...

Could the teams just throw a stone hard enough to kill the deer at this distance? Hmmm... If only survival was easier. One way or another, every team will have to eat today in order to survive. If a team has a backup food supply and chooses an option that is unsuccessful, their backup food supply will automatically kick in prior to starvation.

OPTIONS

---

• OPTION 1 - Try to blast off as many rounds as it takes to kill the deer immediately, as it is already looking this way and suspicious. (For teams that have a pistol.)

• OPTION 2 - Carefully line up a shot with the pistol using a nearby tree as a stand to stabilize the shot. (For teams that have a pistol.)

• OPTION 3 - Pick up some sharp sticks and have one team member attempt to sneak around the deer into the woods on the other side of it. Then, have the other team member attempt to slowly drive the deer that direction so that the first team member can try to spear it with the stick.

• OPTION 4 - Try to throw a stick like a javelin at the deer from where your team is.

• OPTION 5 - Try to hit the deer with a stone in the head by throwing the stone at the deer as hard as you can.

• OPTION 6 - Leave the deer alone and tap into the backup food supply. (For those teams that have freeze dried ice cream sandwiches.)

Each team must reply with their decision within 24 hours of this post to avoid a Coin Toss. Six options exist, just make sure that your team chooses one that can apply to your team.
