SPIRITUAL FOOD 4 THOUGHT : CHURCH LEADERSHIP SERIES - FILTHY LUCRE & CHURCH LEADERS

in #spirituality6 years ago

It's mentioned, so we might as well consider it.

Something interesting is mentioned in both Titus and Timothy regarding Bishops. When we consider the "Good Shepherd" test, we have even more to think about. In this video, I share a potentially valid conclusion that one could draw, especially if we start with what God reveals in scripture.

Interesting. So i think we need to define what is an unjust gain and what may be a just gain. Perhaps you could go into further explanation of the two. Yes bringing money or compensation into the picture and be a gateway for the love of money or the unjust gain.

Another question I would have is what about other staff. ie secretary, janitor, church organist, song leader, treasurer etc. Should they be paid? What about if they are not a member but serve in such a position?

Thanks for your series. As I was out of town earlier for week, I want to go back and listen to some of your posts I was not able to hear. Blessings @papa-pepper.

Personally, I think the whole buildings are a potential way of laying up treasures on earth. In the New Testament, we see people gathering in houses. Most church members already have houses. To tie up the additional finances associated with the purchase and upkeep of a special building, and then to hire all sorts of unbiblical "positions" just doesn't sit right with me. The faith is a lifestyle and lives are lived in the homes, not special buildings. I fear that a lot of what is intended to be "God's money" gets wasted on an institution, rather than actually impacting lives.

I'm just being brutally honest here and sharing what I truly believe, but perhaps I should also make a video along those lines. My point is simple though, way too much of what we do in Christianity these days is far from what God actually reveals, and many things stand in direct defiance and disobedience to what He reveals, which is actually to be expected, since we fight a real (subtle) enemy.

Thanks for taking the time to check these out. It means a lot to me.

Can we safely say that the Bishops are not fulfilling their duties?

After all, as you have stated very clearly to date, Pastors are part of The Church and although you make it very clear that it is only mentioned once in The Holy Bible, you don't deny that it is written.

Has man fumbled things up with the "earthly riches" side of things?, well needless to answer this, but just in case;

YES.

So has money affected many a person who is in The Church and any of its fractions that divide us and open the doors to "mankind" to do its thing. When "money" gets involved, so too does the temptation represented by the apple in The Garden of Eden come out in full force!

I dare say that so far after listening to your words and reading up on the relevant verses, my one any only conclusion is that The Bishops need to brush up on their jobs within The Church.

I personally do not see anything wrong with Pastors and Priests (as I quoted "Priests" from The Holy Bible in a comment thread on one of your earlier videos/posts).

Maybe they are actually going above and beyond to do a good job and to make sure that the mistakes of mankind within The Church are not felt by us the believers who attend Mass. Maybe they are doing what as you state clearly enough, a good portion of a Bishops role, because Bishops are not doing it as per the role defined in The Holy Bible.

Mankind sure does know how to complicate things, that is for sure.
