This was an unexpected adventure.
Today we took a drive to visit with a new friend. She was still getting ready, so she told us to take it slow and enjoy the drive. Therefore, when this bluff caught our eye along our travels, we pulled in for a short adventure.
Thankfully, the "government shutdown" did not prevent us from enjoying this wild masterpiece. Enjoy these photos, as they were a pleasure to make. (Yes, I have decided to agree with @monotharch and make photos rather than take them.)

I used to really enjoy floating this river. Very scenic.
I'm glad you posted this as it reminds me of an epic experience that I had there once.
It involved a foolish young man, a flood, a lost canoe (and camera), a near drowning, a long hike, moonshiners, and a hermit ham radio operator (and his cat).
Good story and amusing (in retrospect). I am new here and have been racking my brain trying to think of something to write. You sir have given me that.

Nice! At least the temporary shutdown theater doesn't seem to be as disruptive or demeaning as the long-term airport security theater.

Next time you go to the Buffalo River check out Steal Creek. That's where I caught my first Cotton Mouth.
