NOW WHAT IS THIS?
It looks kind of intimidating, doesn't it?
These photos are actually of a very little snake. I've never seen one a foot in length, and most are only five or six inches long. I found my first one last year near Russellville, AR, and then some more at An American Homestead last fall. This year, we've actually been finding some around our property!
In these photos, the Smooth Earth Snake seems to resemble a Cobra. They are of course very different snakes, and these are not venomous, but still, there is some resemblance in my opinion. Anyway, here's a handful of "head shot" photos that I rather liked. Enjoy!

LOL - These snakes have no venom, and they are small and harmless, but many people do share your fear and concern.
