NEWS FRIENDS AND NEW GIFTS, PLUS LOTS OF WORK TO DO

in #life6 years ago

This worked out really well.

As you know, we love useful plants around here, so any time that we receive some new ones, it is a happy day for our people. This time, blessings came from two different places.

First off, Mississippi Gulf Coast Gardener surprised me with a gift of Chinese Goji Berry Plants and some Lemon Grass, both of which were ones I really wanted but did not have at the moment.

Then, we went over to a new friends house to enjoy lunch and talk about helping her out, and she gave me some very cool pepper seeds that I really wanted and some Chinese Goji Berry plants. The peppers were a variety I used to grow up in Wisconsin, the Uba Tuba, but my seeds were too old to germinate. Also, we've got some good work to do for the lady and some great kinds of plants that she'll bless us with in exchange! What a wonderful life!

good times! ;)

Love the example you are setting in that we should all help each other out as much as we can! I also think it is an excellent example for the @little-peppers in how to love your neighbor as yourself!

Awesome! We have a couple gojis — they’re good in smoothies. :)

This is awesome, and pretty much how we are with our neighbors around here.

As just one example, one of my neighbors took care of all our animals except the goats when we went to New York over Christmas (and except Lolo, who we took with us), and the neighbor behind them took care of our goats.

When we came home, we brought them all real Polish kielbasa for their efforts, and some outstandingly delicious Polish candies.

When the husband of the first neighbor was laid low with a bad cold, I brought him over some of my spiced honey to help him get well faster, and she calls me regularly to consult on different things she's doing, or just to make sure I'm still breathing in and out.

This afternoon, I'll be going over to help the other neighbor learn how to use his new laptop, since he's never had a computer before, which should be fun. And a couple of weeks ago, after his DVD player gave up the ghost, I set up his new Blue Ray player for him.

And we've all been trading around plants, seeds, homemade goodies and more, for as long as we've lived here.

We lucked out with neighbors when we moved here, but really, we've had good neighbors everywhere we have lived . . . the real key is to actually meet them and talk to them!

Rarely in my life have I met anyone with whom I couldn't establish at least some common ground.
