BUGGER'S WILD SKILLS

in ecoTrain6 years ago

For a two year old, this child really has some skills.

While we were fishing at our friends lake, Bugger AKA Buddy-Pepper and I were walking along the bank. At one point he paused, and said, "Dad, me hear something." After listening and observing for a minute, he pointed and said, "Snake!" Sure enough, a beautiful Garter Snake was slithering through the grass nearby. Once I identified it, I captured it, and then allowed him to check it out. I'm impressed with his awareness, and his reaction and communication. Here's the photos. Enjoy!

Make today special!

That's awesome. One of my fondest memories is of visiting my female cousin in Florida. She used to catch snakes of all kinds for us to play with (well, not venomous ones). The best time was when she caught a glass snake.

Glass snakes are not actually snakes. They are legless lizards, and like other lizards, they have the ability to break off their tail to avoid predators. My cousin demonstrated by holding the tail allowing the "snake" to break away and slither back into the grass. Then she taught us about it. I'll never forget that. To this day, I still have a love for nature's critters.

I've been blessed to encounter one of those once! What crazy creatures, aren't they?

I am really blessed to see the courage of this little boy.
