If I had an extra million dollars...

...I would use it to buy lots of PAL. Then I would stake all of them and keep posting and engaging on the Steem blockchain as usual but use part of the rewards to fund a restoration of some historical organ that is in bad shape in our country.

I would of course write posts about how the restoration process is going which would earn me more PAL in return.

It's a continuous cycle of creating, sharing, being rewarded and giving.

Nowadays most of organ restorations in Lithuania are dependent on government support which is obviously not sufficient. Private companies and individuals sometimes step up in fundraising.

But with blockchain we would have a new model of fundraising.

I have read or seen in the news last year how one businessman gave 1 million euros for some organ project in a village church. I think this church and the organ had to be rebuilt after the fire.

Because of 1 person, they now have a fully functioning church and a new pipe organ.

What if this person was educated about blockchain and Steem and eventually about PAL? And instead of giving to the project 1 million euros directly, he invested it in Steem or PAL and gave part of the rewards to the project.

It's of course riskier, as crypto prices fluctuate and you can't give all that money to the project right away. If you keep on posting and engaging on Steem or PalNet, then your rewards will start coming in after 7 days. So after 7 days he could start cashing out some of them and giving to the project.

If he chose to invest in Steem after 5 years he would have probably doubled his investment - gave out 1 million to the project and still would have 1 million worth of Steem Power left for his next venture.

If he chose to invest in PAL, I think he would get his million back sooner, provided the demand for PAL continues to rise.

But wait... There is more!

What if this businessman said to the church congregation, "OK, I'm going to donate to your project but on one condition - I'm going to set up a Steem account for all the people involved in the project - organbuilders, construction company who is rebuilding the church, private contractors etc. And I'm going to pay them in PAL.

Then here's what would happen - the donor would still have his million invested into PAL and all the people involved in the project would get their money in PAL. Part of that money probably would be cashed out to provide for expenses but part of that money could be powered up.

And after a few years, the church would be rebuilt, the congregation would have their new or restored pipe organ in working condition, the people involved in the project would get funded and still have part of their investment intact in the form of PAL Power.

And of course Steem would get lots of outside publicity which is a good thing for the platform in general. Maybe more users would come to Steem because of this project.

It's a fundraising on steroids when you spend only the dividends you get from the engagement on the Steem blochain.

What would you do with an extra million dollars?

Sort:

A good way to spend a million... But would be great to know how to make a million.... What about sending a Lithuanian goverment a letter about and investment plan, I don't think they read steemit "letters".

well well...Lithuanian government is probably light-years away from Steemit ( and PAL).
Good to see you so enthusiastic about PAL, @organduo, makes me more confident going this way. My full pwr upvote, & let the PAL's flourish

Have you heard facebook is coming with his token LIBRA. you can play with it on hitgub.

It will be good for general awareness for crypto world.

I wonder which government will be the first to embrace Steem... Maybe Estonian? Or Malta. Or Gibraltar...

Don't.

States take the money by the force from the citizens. It would be like asking them to give you the money because you are more worthy of it than citizens that were robbed.

This would require blockchain conference with major PR partners to get them to pay attention.

Your investment explanations are very good, they clarify my vision.

Thanks! Extra million dollars wouldn't hurt...

That is a great wish and I can tell you that not only you wish that, I also wish that to myself.

Yes, we all with that!

I like the way you think! Now I just need to find that 1st million to buy PAL with!

Easy! Just help solve some problem for 1000 people.

Good thinking on this post, @organduo.

The premise of it was that one person owned one million dollars and then chose to donate it.

That's ok. Any private initiative will always be better than any State subsidy. Whatever amount the State give.

However, another good way would be the interested people to start blogging and earning some money. Many times it happens that people feel the need for giving money when they see the place, specially when they are only shown it and not asking explicitly for the money.

Yes, but I think there is something wrong with what Steemit promises to newcomers. When they come to the Trending page... Actually, I'm in the middle of writing a post about this...

That comment can only be agreed. Maybe it should be removed, the Trending page. I think WhaleShares already did it on latest UI update. On the Steem blockchain that depends on the client interface developer. And it seems consensus is to still show it as the home page. Also, most users will always go to steemit.com when they are just beginning. Hard to fix it.

Maybe when communities come into being, the home page can be a hub page which would direct users to the community of their choosing.

Good idea -- I was fortunate to find good communities soon after joining, but it would be great if we were to intentionally point newbies to places to be welcomed, feel at home, and learn both to earn and to invest.
