I took @laputis on a crypto tea date today!

Today in the afternoon my new Wirex Visa debit card arrived in the mail. I'm very excited! I ordered it last week. Now I have a way to actually make use of STEEM in real life...

I used to buy LTC with Wirex app through my other debit card and convert it through Blocktrades to STEEM. But now I have a way of doing an opposite.

When I ordered my Wirex Visa debit card I had to choose the fiat currency of the card from USD, EUR and GBP. I chose EUR because that's what we use in Lithuania.

The first thing after taking the above picture for me was to activate the card. I opened the Wirex app on the phone and by following on-screen instruction was able to activate it with a few simple clicks.

The second thing before using this card was to add some funds to it. Now the fun part began. Within a few minutes I was able to copy the LTC wallet's adress in the Wirex app and paste it to Blocktrades. This way I converted 200 STEEM into 0.482332 LTC and transfered it to my Wirex account. Then I converted LTC to EUR and got 23.42 EUR. I then funded my card with this EUR amount.

The entire operation from trading STEEM to LTC on Blocktrades to adding 23.42 EUR to my card took about 12 minutes. It might have taken a few minutes shorter but it was the first time for me and I got confused a couple of times.

Now I was actually ready to use this card in action. So I took @laputis to the movie but before it started we went to have some tea in the cafe.

We both drank buckthorn tea and I also had one piece of nut pie. This tea usually is too sweet but today it was perfect. Probably the cafe tries to save money by saving on the amount of buckthorn syrup they add to the tea.

I payed 6.60 EUR for our teas and a pie. It's a contactless card but as you might know they don't work very well sometimes. This happened to me today. I had to insert this card and enter a PIN which I haven't memorized yet. Luckily, there is a way to look up your PIN in the Wirex app. But it took me a few moments. Maybe next time I will memorize it just to make the whole transaction smoother.

There you have it! I used my STEEM and took @laputis on a crypto tea date! It cost me about 53.658 STEEM. That's a little less than I earned in the last 2 days on Steem.

Oh, and by the way, for my use of the card today I received 440 Satoshi back. Today that's worth about 0.032 EUR.

Some time ago I asked them to add STEEM to the list of cryptocurrencies they support. If they do, entire transfer and swap might take only a few seconds because how fast the Steem blockchain is!

By the way, the movie that we went to was Lithuanian comedy about a Bitcoin millionaire who got burned when crypto winter came. It was perfect for this occasion!
