RE: 10 Jobs That Won't Exist In 10 Years (Told In GIFs)

in #jobs7 years ago

This is a pretty good list though it may be more like twenty or so years for some of these. It seems to take a long time for things to completely die out after they reach the dying stage.

I have to disagree about malls and mall Santas though. Malls are the one thing I frequently see having success in both small and large cities (even when businesses are closing in other parts of the city). For some reason, people are willing to pay for overpriced things, and I think the social aspect of walking around in a crowded place adds to that appeal, similar to how people will pay for overpriced beers at a bar when they have the option to drink at home. Teenagers go to malls with their friends to spend whatever cash they have and to have something to do, and families go for an excuse to get out of the house.

I stood in the dreaded Easter Bunny line this year for my infant daughter, and it took two hours because there were so many people. Add that amount of people times the amount of hours I wasn't there that day and multiply that amount by the other 20 days the Easter Bunny was at this specific mall this year (with photo packages that range from $30-$50), and you can see that malls make a pretty penny from the service. Not to mention, Santa is a little more popular than the Easter Bunny.

First of all thanks for giving awesome feedback. You picked up a new follower. I also agree that it might take 20 or so years for them to completely die out, but many could be gone as soon as 10 years.

When it comes to malls, I don't know. I think they are going quick right now. Look at this article by LA times

The retail industry is in shambles and it will continue to get worse and worse. Malls will close because the small stores and the anchors are having a problem paying the bills. You are right, they are places to hang out, shop, but not buy. We will see a rise in community areas to fulfill our need to be around each other but the malls will be gone, and it will happen soon than 20 years I think. Some might exist in a few medium size towns, but most are going to close in my opinion, but you might be right. We'll see.

I've done the Easter Bunny line too. lol That is why I kinda hope the malls close. lol
