THE CRUMBS ARE ALSO NEEDED

MARK 7:25-29
"For a certain woman, whose young daughter had an unclean spirit, heard of him, and came and fell at his feet.
The woman was Greek, a Syrophenician by nation; and she besought him that he would cast forth the devil out of her daughter.
But Jesus said unto her, let the children first be filled: for it is not meek to take the children's bread, and to cast it unto the dogs.
And she answered and said unto him, Yes, Lord: yet the dogs under the table eat of the children's crumbs.
And she said unto her, for this saying go thy way; the devil is gone out of thy daughter.
And when she was come to her house, she found the devil gone out, and her daughter laid upon the bed."

What was "the bone of contention" between the woman and Jesus Christ? To go to the extent of describing the woman and her daughter who has been possessed by demons as dogs. Even if the woman and her daughter are from different nation as the message says; how can that cheeky word be poured on them? For dogs in their traditional and symbolic meaning signifies unclean and unworthy. Because, dogs can vomit onto the ground and again lick back that vomit with their tongue. So, for Jesus Christ to call the woman a dog indicates that the woman and her daughter do not deserve or not worthy to be saved at that moment.

Good lessons to note from the woman and her daughter's salvation:

• It was preeminent for the woman to get Jesus to cast forth the devil out from her daughter. So the woman was much more determined no matter how cheeky word Jesus would use on her, she cannot miss Jesus without saving her daughter. It tells you that where there is determination failure cannot dismantle the word of God. The woman was so desperate for her daughter's situation, so she did not consider Jesus word as insulting, but all that she needed was for daughter to be free from that bad spirit engulfing her daughter. So Jesus too saw that great determination in the woman, and said: "go because of the word."

Brothers and Sisters, how are you determined to withstand hardship situation even if you are provoked? We need to be determined in life in order to save ourselves and others too. You are a church member, because of certain word that the pastor said, you have withdrawn yourself being a church member. May be that word the pastor used on you is rather going to save you, but you have stopped so you have missed salvation.

• The woman had faith to the extent that Jesus word used did not discourage her. This means that where there is faith, there grace and favour too. The woman could have also exchanged cheeky words with Jesus, but she patiently and with meek respond said: "Yes, Lord: yet the dogs under the table eat of the children's crumbs." Sometimes, our faith can also be tested by Jesus to see our reaction and respond to that test. I must say that, this was a real test for Jesus to know how faith was the woman, and lo and behold the woman past with distinction.

It is prudent for everybody requesting something to have faith no matter how the situation becomes provoking or boring for you. It is like a son requesting money from his father, by all means it is the father who is going to provide for him. If the father says something provoking and he also get angry and speak harshly, definitely he loses the money. At most instance we request some from God through prayers, if it delays we tend to lose faith. Sometimes God can test our level of faithfulness and if we do not take care we will fail.

• Dealing with the crumbs are very important in life. The woman considered the crumbs that fall under the table when children are eating to be the most essential thing. Why should it be so? The particles of food that fall under the table when one is eating, whiles we consider them as leftover. For the woman, it means that what has been rejected or discarded is a great thing and can still be used. We remember the story of Lazarus and the Rich man, when the Rich man eat, Lazarus too feed from the crumbs under the Rich man's dining table. This means that the crumbs are very vital in life. Also when Jesus fed five thousand people with two fishes and five loaves of bread in John 6:12-13, when the people have eating and satisfied with the food, Jesus told the disciples to:"Gather up the leftover fragments, that nothing may be lost." So they gathered them up and filled twelve baskets with fragments from five barley loaves left by those who had eating." One would ask what were they going to use this leftover for? This means that the crumbs or the bits or rejected ones are very dear to Jesus.

  In this world people reject so many crumbs, bits or leftovers. But I tell you that the crumbs are very important i our lives. @farms when we want our produce to flourish well is it not the leftover from poultry droppings? But at times we throw them away. In our career or work do not consider so many crumbs. We think that those work do not fetch us much money. Some of these crumbs are farming, selling of ice water, selling of porridge. Even some people think that doing steemit is difficult and time consuming which does not fetch much money. But I encourage you that consider these crumbs to be of necessity in your life, because if God blesses you with these crumbs, surprise you it will be more than those who consider theirs to be big. Lets cherish every small or bit to be of valuable and not discarded or rejected. Lets consider everybody of equally important, since if his beginning is small his end will be big.
