A Hike From Blue Lake

in #photography7 years ago (edited)

These are from a hike I did about 5 years ago in the Gifford Pinchot National Forest (Washington state). Blue Lake is about half way between Mt St Helens and Mt Adams. Pretty much in the middle of nowhere. Here is an old Steemit post about another trip I took there.

My friend fishing at the lake. This is a pano created by the I-phone, not sure why the sky is gray. As you will see it was a beautiful blue sky day.

We are starting on the hike. We will pass under the cliffs and head around to the right side of the picture.

As we start to head north we get a glimpse of Mt Adams to the east.

A small stream of snow runoff coming from the meadow we are about to enter.

The meadow we just crossed and the hill we climbed. We are now on The Craggy Peak trail.

Me. :)

A shot of Mt St Helens to the west as we continue northward.

Looking south Mt Hood is in the distance. Down below is the meadow we just crossed and behind the hill on the right is Blue Lake where we started.

Mt Adams.

Mt Hood

The end of our little hike for the day. Going left to right the snow covered mountains on the left are Goat Rocks, followed by Hat Rock, Snagtooth Mountain behind the tress and Mt Adams on the right. This shot is a little pano of two images I put together using Lightroom.

A couple maps of the hike and where it is located. I made these in Google Earth and the hike route is approximate.

All photos taken by me with an Apple I-phone 4S, except the one of me, with some Lightroom post processing.

Thanks for looking and enjoy your day!

Thank you!

Very beautiful place, I really like it. It look so calm and peaceful. I would like to spent some time there and take a rest.
I also like you show us the maps of the hike. Well done. Thanks for sharing. :)

You're welcome! It is a peaceful place and very special to me. I've always liked maps and it was a neat experience creating those in Google Earth. :)
