Why is it Called Black Soap?

Yesterday, I posted a really beautiful picture of a black soap with my picture at the side.

Mind you, from my research, I realized that many people are of the opinion that black soap is any soap that has a black colouration.

Rather, Black soap should be called "Black People's Soap", because of its West African Origin. So, in essence, the "black" part of the name is not about coloration, it is about origin.

At the moment, Oyo State serves as the most renowned location to get the best black soap in the world, beating many of the other West African countries that have not been able to maintain their reputation for black soap production.
