Stupid Sacrifices!!!

For the first time in my life, I heard the phrase "stupid sacrifices". At first, I thought such phrase should never come up....because, I thought every sacrifice ever made usually looks like stupidity.

Personally, I thought sacrifices are not measured by the amount or value of what is being sacrificed. I thought what it cost the person is what matters.

How can sacrifices be called stupid when it means a lot to the person doing it? A mother who chooses to sell her only car just to buy a beautiful dress for her child should not be seen as making a "stupid sacrifice" (my opinion though). She only did that because to her, that car is not worth more than her child's happiness. It is just a question of what she prioritize the most.

When people become very dear to our hearts, nothing we ever do for them can be regarded as *stupid sacrifices".

The Bible told us that God gave his only begotten son to suffer and die for us because he loves us. Mandela was willing to die for his people because of the love and passion he has for them. Socrates was willing to die for his beliefs. Martin Luther King Jr endangered his life by fighting for the freedom of his people. Winston Churchill resisted Nazi Germany with little support... That was dangerous.. Moses left the comfort of the Palace to suffer the affliction of his people.. The list is endless.

All through history, we read about men and women who gave up all they had....even their lives for the sake of Love or What They Believe. It was not stupidity, it was only a display of how much they valued what they made those sacrifices for. A sacrifice only shows that, *what you gave-up (or willing to give up) is not worth more than the reason why you made that decision.

Simply put, Sacrifice means; I shouldn't have done it, but I did it because you are more valuable to me.

Don't you ever allow anyone make you feel you were stupid for standing up at all cost for what you love or believe.

There are four things we must learn; to suffer, to know how to be quiet, to die, to sacrifice.

This is a great perspective you have. Thanks for sharing

totally agree with you.

Thanks very much.

No matter the subject's loss or gain, from the "outside" it appears to be a sacrifice, whether a great Big one or a near dismiss-able one.
