On gender equality and feminism. What is your opinion?
Hi everyone, this is not my usual kind of post where I share what I know or understand; I want this to be interactive. We had a discussion on this topic in my chat group and I wish to bring it on here on the Blockchain. Tell me what you understand by gender equality and feminism.
I am still a fan of the old school who believe a man should be respected as the head of the family and a woman should be submissive. I believe the greatest things a man needs from his woman is not sex or gifts, but respect, comfort, motivation and trust. I believe a man wants his woman to trust he can take care of her. He wants her to trust he has the abilities to be a hero. He wants her to comfort him when he is down and motivate him to achieve his goals.
You may want to ask, what about her own goals? Who really cares about what the woman wants? Well, from my own perspective, I believe what a woman truly wants is affection and support from her man. A strong woman has her own dreams and aspirations but she is not rude about it. She is not competing with her man by trying to take his position as the head. Irrespective of her status in life, she still sees him as her crown and pride and treats him as such.
I do not believe in the school of thought that tries to make the woman compete with her man. I could be wrong though. I would really appreciate your contribution to this topic.

The truth is that feminism has been blown out of proportion. I beg to say that it has turned upside down what was a norm and accepted principle of living.
A lady is meant to be a help mate and by nature likes to be cared, pampered and showered with love. This obviously makes them unique and impressible.
A situation where these women have now risen up to fight for an equal right that we never divided before. If you tell me that a woman should be productive, hardworking and innovative,i won't doubt.
But how can a woman now turn upside down lol these in the name of wanting to be above men. Yes above men.
The opposite of this, is the world's definition of a strong woman. If you notice, you'll find out that this fight has made ladies disrespect and non chalant to things that define them as ladies.
Though It also made them fight and pursue their goals. But it's better to balance goals and dreams and not confuse it with superiority.
I do hope some ladies can take some perceptions from you. Feminism has been blown and abused. There should be a check please

Well talking about feminism, do you think that theory can be achieved?
Same has gender equality, i agree to that same school of taught, were the woman has to be submissive and obedient.
But not to the part, where she is counted a collosial disgrace in the society.
We should be given a fair share of the piece of cake, and i'm wondering how many of our women would contest for the next presidental election.
They've been shut up, they dont have a say.

There are now several definitions of feminism these days that I've dropped the term altogether. Feminism is supposed to reflect equality for us - equal rights, equal opportunities and equal responsibilities. It was supposed to reflect the woman no longer viewed as an object or sex symbol, but as a being worthy of respect.
Sadly feminism has been hijacked by goofballs, misandrists, and confusionists. It is now associated with things like man hate, pettiness and intolerance.

I am a "FEMINIST" unlike what the mass think, a feminist is not a person who believes the man should take care of the children or not be the head of the house, a feminist is someone who believes in sociopolitical and economical right between both sexes. In other words, a person who believes that women should equall rights and opportunities in the society as men. That doesn't alter the tradition of a man being the head of the family in any way, most people just understand the word wrongly.
I believe some sad women who might have had some unhealthy relationships hijacked the course and are teaching younger women wrong principles under the guise of feminism and gender equality.
You are right, making them forget their God given roles in their homes rather than teaching them that all we want is to empower women in the society and not alter their roles in their family.
When this topic was debated on facebook some months ago, we couldn't come to a conclusion.
My take:
Among the goals of Sustainable Development Goals(SDG), Gender equality was listed. Giving women right to contribute to matters that affects them and the community. This was mainly pointed Africa and the Arab nation. Agitating for a better life for women and being able to speak in the presence of men and taken seriously. What a woman says, matters too. This is almost achievable already.
The ball has changed court as some certain women has taken it to a whole new dimension called feminism, where a man is seen as irrelevant. What a man says is not important as theirs stands out. Feminism to me, is an ability for a woman to be self dependent and living free without being a liability to any man. But now reverse is the case

Gender inequality has always been a topic of gross discussion for 21st century radical feminist. It's okay to recognise a man as pillar of the family, be submissive to him, but the advice is, in doing all these, don't loss your being.
Yes, a woman has to be strong, but I personally don't believe she should stop seeing the man as the head.
I always tell anyone who cares to hear that "feminism is not about non submission in marriage, indecent exposure private body parts and all the nots"
Feminism is simply a call for equal participation in opportunities that enhances one's life without discrimination based on gender. Anything outside this is "pure anti-feminism"

Been a feminist doesn't mean we are men haters or they are set of women who don't like to cook. Been a feminist means we all matter equally.. That what a man is given because he has a penis, a woman should be given too.
Talking about patriarchy I don't give into that because have seen women been deprived of their rights, freedom and joy all because of it..

No lady truly likes a patriarchal society. But the modern day feminists are getting the whole idea of feminism wrong.
Permit me to say this, i dont even agree with or like the word "gender equality". From the onset, things where shared in right proportion by the maker. What is there to be "equal"? Is it the "respect" that the man deserved from a woman or the "love" that the man ough to love a woman?.
No matter how the world look at things, there is always a standard measurement for things, everyone have the right to "somethings" . Two captains can never be in a ship. We are all equal in Gods eyes. Therefore, he shared the work in proper ratio.... No matter how finacially bouyant a woman can be, she must respect Gods arrangement of headship to man.
Thank you for sharing your opinion with us. But I still believe in gender equality. I only think in all of it, a woman should still respect and be submissive side her man.
Feminism is a fight against segregation of the women folk i.e denying a woman certain rights simply because she is a woman.
Whether we choose to admit it or not, it is feminism that has brough us this far. In the days of our grandparents, girls were not allowed to go to school simply because they were girls and all the could aspire to was marriage. Now we have girls reaching great heights in the academic and other fields.
This shouldn't be a problem as long as the woman respects her husband and VICE VERSA, as I believe respect is the bedrock of any lasting relationship
My stake is that, feminism in its real sense isn't what we are seeing today from some so-called feminists.
