Francis checked the time, he had just thirty- five minutes left before his afternoon lectures began, so he had to get to the dean’s office and report what he heard immediately.

He have been hearing rumors that the Cabal wanted to rig the university elections but never believed it till he happened to come across them planning how to cause some disturbances on the Election Day.

He had went outside school to visit his aunt who lived in the outskirts of town, but the mistake he made was not calling her before leaving, on getting there he was told his aunt has left for Abuja that morning on a business trip by the gateman.

He left dejected and started going back to the school, he stopped at Crunchies to eat, he had skipped eating that morning in hope that he will eat at his aunt place, while eating some students from the university entered the eatery and sat at the table closest to him, he recognised their leader Steve, he was running for Student president and his posters were littered all over the school.

He was feared by student and lecturers alike due to the fact that his father was a former governor and he was also a cultist, after they were seated, Francis put on his headphones so that he could eavesdrop without any suspicion, he was also sitting with his back to them.

They had obviously chosen this location because of its remoteness from the university.

While eating they discussed about girls and the party they attended the night before, Francis waited patiently knowing that they would soon divert to their main agenda, after eating they huddled closer and started discussing about the upcoming elections.

What Francis heard blew his mind, they were planning to rig the elections as suspected, and they were planning to do it in the sickest way possible, he stood up, paid for his food and left.

Once inside the Dean’s office, he narrated everything he heard, when he was finished, the Dean stared at him with disbelief, the office was silent and the only thing that could be heard was the ticking of the clock, he had been a school administrator for years and he knew when a student was telling the truth.

So you are saying that Mr. Thompson of the election board is in cahoots with a presidential candidate.

Yes sir, Steve said that they have taken steps to reduce the amount of ballot papers to be delivered to faculties where Steve have limited supporters, he told his cronies to announce an earlier time to his supporters so that they can get to the polling booths faster than the supporters of Samson his opponent.

By the time they finish voting, there will no longer be enough ballot papers for others to vote with.

Francis left the dean office feeling lighter, he felt like a messenger who just delivered an important message.
