E3 - The Block Explorer - Alena Vranova, CEO of SatoshiLabs talks Trezor 2.0, Hackathon & more!

in #beyondbitcoin8 years ago (edited)

I recently was given the opportunity to meet up with Alena Vranova, CEO of SatoshiLabs -- the company behind Trezor Hardware wallets -- before the Trezor 2.0 Hackathon.

We start with her introduction to bitcoin and blockchain technology and follow a little bit of the history of SatoshiLabs and Trezor from her perspective. The conversation also turns to the value of offline transaction verifications that Trezor offers individuals and the cryptocurrency communities to which they belong.

She guides us to explore some interesting use cases for trezor as blockchain technology's horizons continue to expand beyond bitcoin. We even discuss the power of blockchains' potential to disintermediate corrupt actors in the current old world system and how blockchain tech can be used to upgrade to provide both privacy and transparency of citizens and the systems upon which they all must depend.

Much more inside everyone! Get all the way through to hear a couple blockchains she personally hopes to see join Trezor! Sincerely hope you enjoy this interview as much as I did.

Thank you for posting. Always interested in ease of use and privacy regarding crypto currencies.
Principle. The right to privacy/property and freedom stand or fall together.

To me it is the foundation of why i believe in the right to a vpn. ;)

We must teach peope the importance of these tools so they are used for the right reasons. Thanks for your input!

Thank you for your reply. Does it your opinion stand to reason, that based on the visibility of blockchain as it stands presently, that a profile could be compiled on a user based on his comments, replies, and posts? Should not somethings be kept in the cupboard so to speak for the sake of privacy, freedom to speak. It seems too centralized and visible at the users blog. What solutions could be presented?

This is very true but also so is it true that you can be recorded in public against your knowledge. I think the key is that people know the nature of the system they are using and both the positive and negative ways ofusig the tools the blockchain offers. If you listen to the interview you will hear alena talk about how trezor could be used as a login for all websites a user uses...so i suspect that we have the beginnings already of what is needed to be able to both verify an individual on a chain and also protect their privacy. Hope that answers ur q.

Ultimately it comesdown to each of us how ee are going to use this...

I've had a Trezor for about a year now, and I've got to say its a fantastic little hardware wallet.
I'm looking forward to what they come up with for the Trezor 2.0.

The future is bright, the future is Crypto!

Well you should honestly probably listen to the interview then buddy. She talks a bit about precisely that at a couple points!

Just as soon as I can get to somewhere with free wifi ;)

Informative post!
