Cockroaches are insects in the same order as termites which is the order Blattodea. About 30 to 35 cockroach species out of every 4,600 species are usually associated with human habitats, well out of all these, just four are taken as pest.

According to Wikipedia;

They date as far back as 320 million years away crap how many species live for that long before they become extint, so cockroaches exist in just few families unlike most insects and these families include:
Blaberidae, Blattidae, Corydiidae, Cryptocercidae, Ectobiidae, Lamproblattidae, Nocticolidae, and Tryonicidae.

I am not going to bore you with all these details in this post so I have decided to go straight to the point which is the health benefits of having cockroaches around. As awkward as this may sound I’ll advice you as a friend to get one of these things around you as soon as possible not just for consumption alone but also for environmental sanitation lol.

A journalist Lafcadio Hearn in the 19th century mentioned that, cockroach tea was the perfect cure for tetanus, and this was approved by the residents of new Orleans.
So basically all the cockroach does in your home is feed off left overs like chunks of bread, bad food, old books an clothes that have been abandoned for a long while, yes they have long hair on their bodies, know for being unhygienic and even spread some bacteria but here are benefits they present:

First they treat burns: Prof Liu mentioned that creams made from cockroaches is in use in Chinese hospitals at the moment as a treatment for burns and also in Korea for cosmetic facial masks, and these treatments have proved worthy and effective.

Next they prevent Diarrhea and relieves symptoms of stomach flu, recently a study from the University of Nottingham found out that a cockroach has a substance in its brain which can kill Escherichia Coli bacteria, also a syrop from a cockroach can relieve symptoms of stomach flu. Research found out, Dr. Naveed Khan and his team had approved Mashed up cockroach brains are effective against an E. coli bacteria that causes meningitis and MRSA, the staph bacteria which has become resistant to antibiotics, A night in a Petri dish with cockroach brain along side the e coli backteria, had killed 90 per cent of the bacteria, Khan told the Star on Tuesday. The insect parts have no single effect on human cells, which means this can be used as treatment.

Liu Yusheng, a professor at Shandong Agricultural university and the head of Shandong province’s Insect Association, said cockroaches are a miracle drug. “They can cure a number of ailments and work faster than other medicine,”

Protein rich: Cockroaches have been confirmed to have a relatively high amount of protein content. Which is believed to completely meet the needs of daily protein. To note is, cockroaches can be eaten with rice, but should be well processed first or might even endanger your health such as trigger symptoms for allergy sufferers.

A report released by the Institute for Stem Cell Biology and Regenerative Medicine, India, suggested that cockroach milk has the nutritional properties to be a healthy supplement to anyone’s diet. The milk contains way over three times the amount of protein found in cow’s milk, without the unhealthy fat content meaning cockroach milk provides the more protein than cow milk but doesn’t make you fat.

Sanchari Banerjee, a member of the research group, was affirmative in his statement at outlining the benefits of cockroach milk. ‘The crystals are like a complete food – they have proteins, fats, and sugars’ he said. ‘If you look into the protein sequences, they have all the essential amino acids fro human survival.’

This leads to this question: if cockroach milk is good for us, then how do we milk a cockroach?

interesting and disgusting at the same time. These weird medicines/pseudomedicines are mostly domiciled in Asia. I wonder why more developed countries do not look into it.
