Outdoor Cooking

This is what the locals here call a bakspieker, a baking shed.

These bakspiekers were used mainly for baking bread, and many of the farms in the east of The Netherlands had one, often for communal use:

Next to it is another construction, on the left in the top photo, but I have no idea what it is in aid of:

Both these little buildings come with this farm house I posted before:

Baking bread standing outside in the snow, I wonder if that is fun.

Beautiful capture. Amazing !!!!!!

Thank you.

I know these bread baking stands.
I have seen them before.
On your blog :)

I added some snow this time, for effect 8-).

Nice looking property... makes the city and even suburbia look as they are, a jungle. I understand the need for venting on the ovens, but am surprised they did not find a way to use that heat for the home.

By the way the first image with the dual identical trees has a great compositional look.

I hate big cities more and more 8-).

I don't know why they didn't use the heat from the oven for the house. The house has an open fire with an upside-down fire basket over it to keep it together, and a big hood and chimney hanging over it to get rid of most of the smoke. In winter, a few cows would live in the same room, that helped too.

The Farm House With Snow Is Just A Amazing Click!!!

@ocrdu do you know why they make the roof so high? Is it a sleeping area? Lovely architecture.

Crop storage, mostly. The beds are cupboard beds on the ground floor, with little doors.

Beds with doors, cool.

They look like vertical cupboards with the doors closed, and they are against the outer wall. We call them "bedstee", which translates as "bedstead", but that doesn't quite cover it. Very claustrophobic to sleep in.

Wonderful photography.Just mind blowing.

you got snow still?
its been sunny these days
except for some fog and gloomy today

No, the photos are a week old. The only snow still here is what is left of a huge snowman people made in the park.

That is beautiful ; the falling snow makes the shots.

It also made me use my left hand for shielding the lens 8-). Cold-finger photography, this.

I know the feeling.
