Bring in the Steem Clans!
Like many things in life this idea came about by chance. While having fun on Steem with @meesterboom about the Clan Mac Brilliant, and some posts there after, we ping-ponged about a possible addition of 'Clans' to the Steem realm. Now we have the voting Guilds, I know, but this would be more like 'groups' of some other unpopular platform. Or like 'circles' on another unknown one. Or like 'the Borg~' hyves, but less creepy. Now we have our own blog page at Steem, but what about making 'Clan' pages?
Clans could 'battle' with each other, in writing, poetry, songs, rap, art and so on. We could even have real life social network events back this up. Although that last one might be quite the challenge. Just to add more excitement to the Steem realm. There would be plaid designs needed, shields with a kind of Clan sign and so on. And no I'm not Scottish, although I am a Lowlander, but in this case from Nederland. The choise for 'Clans' is more connected to Steem.
Steem written wrong gives steam. Kidding, I know, but they sound alike. Steem it's symbol looks like steam. One very imporant invention was the steam engine. That was invented by a Scottish inventor James Watt, in 1781, and the industrial revolution began. And there is a link again with Steem its Blockchain technology. It really is a revolution, a great invention, a Social Media Platform on a blockchain. And I think Ned, CEO of SteemIt Inc, is a Scott...
Okay, I am taking this free association perhaps a wee bit too far. But if we called it 'groups' then that would not be right. Some mister Zuckerborg might not like that very much. And taking all into account 'Clans' might be a cool addition to the Steem realm, even if you do not buy all that far fetched mind trip.
What do you think about Steem 'Clans' and how would that function as a real addition to the realm?
Have a good one!

~ 'The Borg' is a reference to a science fiction series called Star Trek 'Next Generation'.
Ned is indeed a Scott! Hehe, I never thought of that one before.
I tink it is a great idea but you already know that! Clan wars and alliances and all manners of stuffs but all good natured o' course!
Therefore I think we can be so free to count Ned in. :-)
All in a peacefull spirit yes, it is not like we are going to bring Mell Gibson in. The idea of independance connected to the Steem blockchain is a nice thought though.
Maybe sprinkled with some of this? https://steemit.com/steemit/@ocrdu/a-plea-for-old-school-guilds-on-steemit
Anyway, in my genealogical research I found I have a Scottish ancestor called Stuart (a soldier, no royalty). Mine will be the clan of Stuart then. No idea if that comes with a tartan, but kilts are draughty anyway.
Yes, Ocrdu of the Clan Mac Stuart, that could be part of it. Clans of shared interests. Collectors of old camera's, for instance. There would be a seperate tab for this on the User Interface.
It could be called communties, but I like the idea of Clans, as that takes up less characters in the interface also as a bonus. And it has some ring to it, triggers imagination, well, it does for me. :-)
Part of the fun could be to choose a tartan for the Clan. But if it would go as far as us wearing kilts, dunno.
