Take A Break: Kanazawa-Toyama-Nagano- Trip# 5
Take A Break: Kanazawa-Toyama-Nagano- Trip# 5
Hello my Steemit friends,
This morning we left early because our plan was to take the Alpine route. It starts at Tateyama Station, but from Unazaki Onsen Station it takes 1 to 2 hours, which is too far. So we took the Rapid Alpine Train, which goes to Tateyama Station directly. On the way you can see breathtaking views.
After arriving at Tateyama Station, we bought tickets at the ticket counter from Tateyama Station to Okizawa Station, about 9000 yen per person. The whole route takes about 5 to 6 hours. You can see the alpine route in the picture below.
First, we took the Tateyama Cable about 7 minutes and then took the bus about 50 minutes to Murodo. In autumn you can see the fall foliage on the way. Each season the beauty of nature is different. The bus passed by Shomyo Waterfall, the highest in the Midagahara Area and all of Japan.
Murodo
Here, there are famous places like Mikurigai Pond and the view spot at Jodosun. In the middle of April to the end of July there is a long snow wall, Yuki no Otani. It's really impressive, some years it's as high as 20 meters or more. I'd like to come back again to see the giant snow wall with my own eyes.
We strolled around Murodo and stopped at Mikuriga Pond. It was a really wonderful view in front of us. The blue water is surrounded by green mountains in the background. It's a beautiful view for anyone, I think.
Daikanbo
After enjoying Murodo, we took an electric bus to Daikanbo, where you can see magnificent 360 degree views. From this station you can see views of the Japanese Alps, the lake, and Kurobe Dam.
Kurobedaira
There is a garden at the exit of the station where you can learn about botanical plants.
Kurobe Dam
We took the Kurobe cable car to Kurobe Dam. At 1,500 meter, Kurobe Dam is the highest dam in Japan. It was built after World War II in 7 years, when the Japanese economy was growing fast. There wasn't enough electrical power, which is why it was built. When I arrived here I felt like I was in a Transfromers movie. Did you think so too?
Dam water outlet.
If you have time, you can climb the 220 stairs to the Dam Observation Deck to see the view of the dam. We didn't go there because it was too high and a bit scary.
Finally,we ended our route at Okizawa Station. The leaves on the trees were changing color. It seemed like it was the peak this week. Most mountains were colorful. We took some pictures, and then took the bus back to Nagano and stayed there for the night.
See you in the next post. Hope you like it.
