RANDOM THOUGHTS

in #philosophy6 years ago

So I started today on a very low note. My internet connection was a mess. I found it almost impossible to carry my activities on the blockchain. At some point, I just had to put my phone away to do something else. It's quite strange though, doing anything that is not steem related. I basically live on here. And you can understand my frustration when I get to see a very inactive timeline which clearly has been the case for a couple of days now. Well, I won't say it's not expected but it's disappointing. We've had so many ups and downs, so I really find it perplexing that many would leave in this period where we need to support each other and most importantly the steem ecosystem. Well, asides the blogger's sphere on the blockchain, I've found on musing.io a relatively small but active set of users I relate with every day through questions and answers, and I have made new connections and generally, it has been a great experience.

Still, on the issue of inactivity on here, I think I might just give writing a break for now and explore other dapps. As we might now know, steem blockchain isn't just a sphere for bloggers. We have other creative individuals doing other things. If you ask me I would say the bloggers are the most inactive on the steem blockchain and the rate at which they (we) interact with each other is very poor. Feedback rate is very poor and there is so much of a herd mentality here. People just want to interact with their fellow community members. They will bypass your comments or post if you're not affiliated with their group/community. I don't think we need this type of selective behavior and has only hindered the coherence of the blogging communities. One musing, where I spend most of my time now, you hardly find this type of selective behavior. It doesn't matter your reputation or the community you belong to, you will most likely get positive responses to your questions. And it is still a reward orientated platform, so I do not see why other platforms cannot be this effective. Maybe this is because the reward comes from a centralized source which weighs the merits of each answer or question, so each user has an equal chance to thrive there.

Away from musing and steemit (and other blogging interfaces), I think another dapp I would be using much more is @steemmonsters gaming app. By the way, I won 9 beta steem booster cards today and I want to thank the team for this generous gift. I did not expect it. I was hoping to buy a starters pack by the end of the month so I could play. So with these new set of cards and the ones I will be adding to my collection, I'm looking forward to a wonderful experience.

I think in the coming months I might shift away from blogging. So how I interact with the system will be totally different from now. You might not get to see as many posts from me but be rest assured that I will still be very active on the steem blockchain. At least this will keep me from checking the price of steem very single minute. We don't all do deal with the intricacies of this platform. Maybe having fun on the steem blockchain might be a good way to start.

Someone raised the issue of 50-50 reward ratio again. I think I asked this question on musing some weeks back about what people thought about the 50-50 reward ratio proposal by one of my benefactors. I liked one of the responses I got which I think approached the issue realistically. The respondent stated that nowhere where in the world does a content creator get to share the proceeds of his/her content with its consumers. You never go to the bookshop to buy a book and expect to get paid for reading it. Even though I have proposed that there should be more incentives for content consumers, but sharing equally the proceeds of a content I created with curators will never sit well with me. The argument has been that it will improve the way people curate. In an ideal world this is feasible, but unfortunately, we do not live in one. In my opinion, this will only favor accounts with large steempower. It will not change the way I curate neither will it increase my earning capacity and my earning capacity remains the same with this proposed initiative then I as a content creator will be at the losing end.

These are my random thoughts of the day. Please share your thoughts with me on the issues raised in this post.
