Incredible India monthly contest of October #2| While making decisions!
We are faced with decisions on daily basis, from what to wear or eat, or which client or customer to attend to first or what shoe or bag to complement our dressing. Making a decision is not always easy because it often comes with uncertainty, fear, and responsibility.
Yet, the choices we make define who we are and shape our future. There are some decisions we take in life that either make us or break us but the thing is, making wise decisions can make a big difference.
Which points should anyone keep in mind while making any decisions?
---
Decisions are not just what someone take without some thought about it. Its best to take productive decisions but before that, you have think and re-think.
- Make a clear definition of the goal because a clear goal would help you choose the best option rather than just reacting to situations.
- Make sure to gather enough information and understand the situation well. The more informed you are, the productive your right decisions will be.
- Put the options in consideration before you decide, don't be in a rush. Compare their pros and cons and be sure you are on the right track.
- Put emotions in check, don’t make certain decisions when you are angry, or afraid, or excited. It’s better to calm down and think logically.
- You can seek advice if need be from trusted friends who can give new perspectives and prevent mistakes. And make sure your choice aligns with your principles and what you truly believe in.
- Be sure your mind is centered on the risk involved so that you don't loose your mind. Once you make a decision, own your choice whether it leads to success or failure, that’s how you learn and grow.
Do you deem that there are instances in which decisions must be made for the collective benefit of all? Explain!
---
Yes, there are many instances where decisions must be made for the collective benefit of everyone, not just for individual benefit.
First, we look at the society where some choices affect more than one person, we have the families, communities, organizations, or even a whole nation who are involved. In such cases, thinking only about personal benefit can cause harm to others or create unfair situations.
For example, government policies about health, education, or the environment must focus on what benefits the majority, not a few individuals. Although sometimes they do it for their personal benefits, but letting others say their mind is best.
Secondly, we look at the public health decisions, like enforcing vaccination programs or setting up waste disposal rules. These decisions might inconvenience some people, but they protect the larger population from disease and pollution.
Similarly, in a workplace, a manager might decide to adjust work schedules so that all employees share equal opportunities, even if a few people prefer otherwise.
Collective decision-making builds unity, fairness, and long-term progress. It teaches people to think beyond themselves and consider how their actions influence others.
Please provide techniques for managing challenging situations effectively
---
- The first step is to stay calm and take a deep breath before reacting. Keeping your emotions under control helps you think more clearly and avoid making the situation worse.
- Get to understand what’s really happening. Ask yourself what caused the problem and what parts you can control.
- Be positive because a positive mindset helps you focus on solutions instead of problems. Believe that every challenge can be managed or turned into a learning experience.
- You can seek an advice from trusted friends, mentors, or colleagues. Sometimes, a fresh point of view helps you see things differently and find better solutions.
- Apply flexibility, here you have to keep trying out solutions until you get the perfect one for your problem.
- Be sure to have learned from the experience so that it doesn't repeat in the nearest future.
