Appreciating Trump
The Donald Trump phenomenon continues to baffle many. There is the notion among his opponents that, this man, deem by many as the small finger orange vulgarian, is an aberration. He is not my president, they say. He does not represent our values—our American values many affirm. For them, he is just unacceptable. Much of this criticism stems from his utterances, which his detractors claim is not presidential. I would agree that the way he speaks is uncharacteristic of a head of state period. Politicians, as we know say X and do Y, but they do so in a diplomatic way.
As to whether or not the last point applies to Donald Trump is hard to say because he is all over the place. This is a man that is not ideologically driven so one can never gauge where he is or what he stands for. If one were to examine his actions, however, one would be hard pressed to find much difference between him and previous presidents. I would argue that Trump is as American as coca cola Madonna and denim jeans.
I say this, looking at the Donald Trump phenomenon through the lenses of an outsider who has no dog in this race. What I have seen coming from this president is not one bit surprising. Not in the least. I say this to you, who would seek to oppose the man. I say that America is Trump and Trump is America. After all, leaders represent the collective consciousness of their citizenry. I say this to you, who call yourselves US citizens. I say this to you who are still confused as to how a man with such values could become president of your country.
This confusion is baffling to me looking in from the outside. As far as my research goes, Trump was born in The US, raised by US parents, went to the best US schools, was taught and mentored by the best The US has to offer. I am sorry to disappoint those who are repulsed by him, but Trump is what your society has produced. Accept it.
Much of this confusion lay in the appalling ignorance that exists among many US citizens. This is especially as it relates to foreign relations. That I can do and say whatever I want, when I want, to whomever I want and there is nothing you can do about it; is nothing unique to Donald Trump. It is the American way. And this American way was established long before The Donald came along.
Conduct a litmus test by asking yourselves this question—why are you fighting against the Afghans, the Iraqis, Libyans, Syrians, and several other countries? I heard that Niger has been added to the mix. And while I do not down play the fact that millions marched against the invasion of Iraq even before a single bomb had been dropped. Let me be clear, for that you should be commended. And many of you continue the fight, however, I cannot but wonder where many of your voices were when Obama invaded Syria and Libya. Or where are they now, are they asking what the US is doing in Niger. But before there were those, there were these below.
A people, so bombarded with propaganda from the mainstream media and who are so overwhelmed with domestic affairs may find that getting by on a shrinking income is more pressing than asking these questions much less protesting about them. One is aware that wages have degreased over the past three decades or so, but be reminded that people with much less are doing much more.
“We came, we saw, he died,” Hillary Clinton said when she heard that Muammar Gaddafi was killed. There are talks that the Libyan leader was working to undermine the petrodollar and hence, he was assassinated. Word is that Assad is doing the same, which is why there is this urgency to get rid of him. True or not, we have not been given a concrete reason for the invasions. They say there was going to be a bloodbath in Libya, and so the western powers stepped in to save the Libyans. Fast forward to 2017, the bloodletting shows no sign of abating. None dare blame the colonel, after all he is deceased.
The Emperor has no clothes
“I would take the oil. Bomb the hell out of ISIS. Kill the family of terrorists,” are some of the more disturbing utterances of Trump. But isn’t this what the US has been doing for the longest while. Hidden behind all Trumps balderdash is the complete disregard of habeas corpus. I am not even certain if anyone, but a few, is even mentioning this criminal act. By the way, Guantanamo Bay is still open. Imagine, we have forgotten this despite the US president’s promise to bring back torture, as if locking people up without trial is not tantamount to torture.
“A lot a killers, we got a lot a killers, what you think our country is so innocent,” Donald Trump said in an interview with Bill O’Reilly a few weeks after he took office. The mainstream press, mainly on the liberal side were up in arms. What Trump said was not inaccurate, what he said was simply what many of us outside of the US know. I would even go as far as saying that many US citizens know this, but they would prefer not to acknowledge it. Trump is, blunt, coarse, vulgar, but often, his utterances are true. Indeed, the emperor has no clothes. Trump is holding a mirror in front of the American people. They are seeing all the warts and shortcomings and it sickens many. For good or ill, no one, whether they like it or not, can look away from the image, nor can they break the mirror. The people of the US are having to look at what the rest of the world has had to look at for many years. An eye sore isn’t it?
The Most Dangerous Country
In their annual End of Year poll in 2013, WIN and Gallup International surveyed more than 66,000 people across 65 nations. The results show that 24 percent of respondents answered that the United States “is the greatest threat to peace in the world today.” Pakistan and China were a distant second and third respectively, with 8 and 6 percent. The results are below. I invite you to read it.

During my research. I stumbled upon some very interesting facts. The US has been at war for most of its history. Only 21 of those years have been peaceful. What is interesting is that these were wars of aggression. And even in cases where it has been reported that the US was attacked, the information coming from officialdom has been questionable. But even if it is accurate, to have spent over 90 per cent of your history at war says a lot. An assessment of the data above is quite revealing. The question is: how many of these were the aggressors. None, as far as I can tell. To have spent over $14 trillion on 13 wars over several decades is mind boggling. Jack Ma articulates it quite well in the video below. He calls out Wall Street too.
One could go on at length and point out the transgressions of the USA. I want to make it perfectly clear. I am no longer interested in the crime, in the same way I am not trying to indict anybody. Crime is universal. Humans have been doing horrible things to each other for a long time and probably will continue to do so. My question is, how long do we expect this to continue? To assume that, as a species, we can continue along this trajectory, unabated and survive is ludicrous—a fact that I am sure should be obvious to even the most primitive of single celled organism.
It is troubling that many people do not see the value in the US having good relations with Russia. The fact is that Russia is also a nuclear power. For your information, there are no winners in a nuclear war. Do people even understand what these things do? The fact that people would want to create a situation where these things are used boggles the mind.
Many Americans would like to see themselves as being above and beyond and separate and apart from what is going on. Be reminded that every time you walked into a voting booth and voted for those who voted for these wars, you registered your complicity. Enrolling in the armed forces to pay for college does not absolve one from blame. Again, you have registered your complicity, and no ignorance is no excuse.
The arms industry ensures that money flows continually into the coffers of the US of A. Among your customers are the Saudi’s. They oversee one of the most brutal regimes today. They are bombing, in addition to other places, Yemen, but the Yemenis blame the Americans just as much as they blame the Saudis. For after all, is it not American bombs that are bombing them? American guns that are firing the American shots that are killing them? Life demands of us a certain humility, and that humility admonishes us to look at ourselves naked. And in doing so, we can examine our warts, shortcomings and transgressions. For it is through such an examination that one, in this case a nation, may begin to heal.

Wonderful point. I stand by almost zero percent of what he stands for but I doapreciate how straightforward he is about all the awefulness. Hopefully some of these people will begin to realize he is a symptom of their own collective hypocrisy rather than the problem itself

STOPThis is a great post for several reasons @nicholas83 One, because it closely relates to how I personally see the overall big picture as one who lives here in the US. Many here simply do not realize Trump is not a politician he is a business man.
Two: An outsiders input should always be welcome. The image has been stamped and approved by the vast majority of those living here in the US without many even being aware. The continuous wars are being played out in their name and with their tax paid dollars but few choose to recognize this. I know it is recognized by those outside the US but getting a mirror in front of this nation is nearly impossible for the same reason.
Third, your article here should give us at least a base line, a foundation on from which to renew and rebuild. I think the people are waking up at an alarming rate but what should also be noted, just like most of us that have awoke to an unexpected nightmare, it takes those awakening some time to catch up, do their own due diligence, research facts, apply reasoning and begin to change personal opinions and decisions.
I am hoping there will be enough time. A more fully informed public is crucial at this point, the future of the human race depends on it, whether most know it or not.
Indeed Vickie. Despite all this, I am optimistic that the American people will wake up and take charge of their country. As you said. Humanity depends on it.
On the list of wars there are some banana wars missing I think. I would also count the Bombing of WW2 in the other list. After all the method to bomb civilians to break the enemies moral is something that rose to popularity after it was done to NS-Germany.
One thing I often see is the refusal to take any responsibility. "I don't vote", " I vote Republican, they are for small gov, see I am also against our gov!". Even when I do not vote for our corrupt German government, I still feel like I got some sort of responsibility towards the actions of my country.
Thanks. I will do some research on this.

Great post.
The sad thing about the Trump electrion is the lost opportunity of breaking out of the usual political chain of people. He could really shake things up with the wealth he has.
Sadly his politics are far to right for me.
Well I know I am a bit surprised by this so you may be as well. The statement he made, "Calm before the Storm" has new meaning for me.
And this one came to me shortly after:
WOW.
Thanks much.
its not just about voting. its also about not doing anything to change the situation.
my country is small, but we killed 2 of our kings, few primeministers, and countless others who tried to do bussiness in the name of the people. i dont say its the way to do it, but everyone who comes to rule knows it IS an option.
thats why we will never have cops like they have in USA. if our cops ever try do act like they act in USA, they would be extermintated like any foreign occupying force.
I am not certain which country you are from, but I guess it is not as divided as the USA. That is one of the problems I observed while I was living there. Every side hates every side and no one is listening.
i wonder how much then USA is divided on scale from 1 to Former Yugoslavia... ;)
Good question. The problem with both sides of the divide is that they are looking for answers in a system that has gone sterile and dead.
