The Blocktrades Contest | First Discussion with Family on Cryptocurrencies

When I first joined #STEEM, I had never thought I would be actively engaging with many communities and participating in writing contests to demonstrate my work. However, quickly after joining in December of last year, I realized that this was more than a cryptocurrency project and that the path ahead of me would give me challenges that would help me grow in many ways. The journey has been one of plenty of learning that has inspired me to become more active and engaging to motivate and encourage others to start their own journeys here given the amazing potential #STEEM presents to many communities around the world.

As part of my learnings, I quickly realized the importance of increasing my stake in order to achieve the influence needed to engage with the community and help projects grow the ecosystem. I have been blessed with a great professional career which has allowed me to initiate a Dollar Cost Averaging strategy into STEEM at least monthly since February 2018; a strategy that @blocktrades has made it very easy to execute given their services. However, staking is not enough and in July 2018 I challenged myself to become more active and engaging which motivated me to join a number of communities on Discord and to achieve my first month of posting every day ever.

After seeing the benefits of actively posting and engaging with the community, I continued to seek ways to improve my presence in the ecosystem and have consistently delegated 20-30% of my Steem Power to communities and projects that have the potential to help with the growth and retention of users. In addition to posting almost every day, I have also been participating in @abh12345’s @curie sponsored Curation and Engagement League which has inspired me to measure my engagement efforts to benchmark with others around the ecosystem. Since joining, my engagement as measured by the initiative has more than doubled since starting. I even had the privilege of being on the Top 10 this this past week!

My latest endeavor has been spending time in the #introduceyourself posts to curate and assist new users with information that will improved their knowledge of the ecosystem and ways to engage and grow. I believe new users are the key to the future of #STEEM as the social experiment we are a part of is fueled by people and engagement. I recently completed Week 13 where I highlight the most interesting new user introductions of the week. I also analyzed the progress of these users after 7 weeks and rewarded those that remained active with @steembasicincome SBIs to motivate their continued engagement.

As of late, as part of my continued efforts to expand my engagement in the community, I have been posting more about personal experiences and reflections around why I think the ecosystem we are in is so game changing and beneficial for society. An example, which is my submission for this contest, is how I talked with my family for the first time about cryptocurrencies and the impressions it caused. I hope it demonstrates how the journey has led me to being here now with many hopes for the future of this great ecosystem and potentially becoming a role model for the community.
