Some Gold & Silver Just in Case
The continued moves of the US government to support the financial markets have had me concerned to a long time. Since 2011, I have made an effort for a small percentage of the assets be allocated into precious metals. I have diversified into ETFs, miner stocks, and the physical assets. I enjoy the latter the most as I like to feel having control of hard assets given how intangible asset holding has become (and will become even more so with Cryptocurrencies).
I typically buy physical metals once a year around spring to add to my collection. This year, as I have been paying more attention to the overall market, I have grown more concerned about the potential of a serious devaluation of most major fiat currencies as the debt loads have become so high around the world as Central Banks have printed so much to support the market liquidity without actually benefiting those that need it most. So I have started to buy smaller denominations of these assets to have them on hand in a worst-case scenario.
Would we ever see a world where paper money is no longer the preferred method of payment? Depending on how you see it, this has already occurred! Hyperinflationary markets no longer have and efficient methodology for large payments as it would take barrels of paper money to make those purchases. Also, even today in developed countries with stable currencies, the preferred method of payment is plastic! The future will be interesting as it would be more digital and mobile instead of the paper currency. If things get bad, it would be hard assets like metals. It will be interesting to see where the path takes us as a society.
Let me know your thoughts of future payments. Do you think metals will make a comeback in extreme circumstances or have we evolved passed that with Cryptocurrencies? I look forward to engaging with you on your comments.

We were late on this one, @newageinv. Good stuff though. Thanks for your insights regarding precious metals. Cryptos are changing things in ways that counter the shackles of centralized fiat. These are interesting times.

I think it's very wise to purchase physical metals, I think silver might be the best value at the moment. Lastly, I agree, we live in a digital world and most transactions aren't using paper money.
excellent..this is the best opp. in the metals in at least 10 years..
