That circular arm is amazing and so cute. I like your vintage idea about translator, he really looks like a scholar :D.
I think the "round hand" adds a bit of "smooth dynamics" and of course frivolity - then the viewer removes all questions and claims to the rest of the details. :)))

Really lovely flow and I love all the little details, like the wood grain on his table and the cross hatching herringbone waistcoat. Really well done. I could see this as a great book illustration or even a New Yorker style cartoon.
