A modification that is so popular that it has the chance to be played as a complete game. That is Insurgency's success story and it gets a bit of a tail. Because as you will read in this Insurgency Sandstorm preview there will be a sequel!

The isolated game Insurgency did not achieve the intended Kickstarter goal, but the introduction of Steam Early Access just coincided with the work on the game. The use of walls to hide behind is therefore extremely important to stay alive. Something that is made more difficult by the presence of vehicles and air support that can pierce such objects!

Where Insurgency Sandstorm initially resembles Counter Strike Global Offensive, you will realize after the first minute that this is absolutely not the case. The maps are a lot bigger, the air is sometimes filled with support from both teams (helicopters, drones, mortar fire) and there is only one goal sacred: the mission. No team deathmatch, but completing the mission of your team is sacred.

Similar to Galactic Assault from Star Wars Battlefront 2, where you and your teammates will have to do your best to overcome the opponent's theses. At the same time, the hostile team has the task of delaying as long as possible and the ability to push back, making the road to the mission for you and your companions longer and more difficult. And all that while the mortar bombardments and drone missiles fly you over the ears.

Insurgency Sandstorm is therefore quite similar to Insurgency. The question 'why a follow-up' is one that will soon rise. Fortunately, New World has an answer to that. Because there is enough innovation to be found.

To begin with, the game will also come to the Xbox One and PlayStation 4. How smoothly a tactical shooter in which everything will happen quickly is the question, but it also opens doors. Because apart from the step for the PC version to the competitive stage, the console versions will also open the door to competitive play.

If that is not enough, Insurgency Sandstorm also brings graphic renewal in the form of the Unreal Engine 4. A gaming engine that is capable of converting smooth and blood-fast action into graphic splendor like no other. Fine if you include your bots in the new co-op mode with your friends.

With realistic weapon sway, deadly weapons and focus on mission, Insurgency Sandstorm is a game for hardcore tactical gamers. You still have time to collect your old squad again, because a release date does not have the title yet. But once the game comes out, it is certainly a formidable competitor for other tactical shooting games, and this time also on the consoles!
