Bayonetta 2 Switch Preview - There she is again
The first Bayonetta was bizarre to say the least, but equally amazing. It was therefore a shock that part two of the badass witch only came to the Wii U. Fortunately, there is a new chance for the missed target group and if you are just about to sweat, you can read in the Bayonetta 2 Switch Preview.
Both Bayonetta 1 and 2 will storm Nintendo's newest console on February 16th. The two games are delivered in a single package, where you are saddled with the femme fatale for about 25-30 hours. The price of so many hours of beat 'em up is between 50 and 60 euros, converted about 30 euros per game. After having spent a couple of hours with Bayonetta 2, our crimes about the Nintendo Switch version can be found below.
Magic
Who ever needs Devil May Cry if you have one of the Bayonetta games in the closet? The games where neither hell nor heaven is spared generally scored numbers that the average triple-A can only dream of. The golden combination of original enemies and unwise hard ass kicks with the seductive Bayonetta also deserves no different. It would be great if this concept works just as well on the Switch as on the other platforms.
The first few chapters are behind us, but what a rollercoaster ride of action! Everything you're used to from the Wii U has been transferred to the smaller device and still damn good. A broken angel here, a colossal dinosaur there. The game is literally no change when it comes to amazing and over the top moments.
In terms of content, there is as good as nothing touched and that becomes clear during the first few entertaining hours. The game still has 16 chapters that can be played at your own pace. This does not mean that every aspect has remained the same. For example, the game is more attractive than the original version on several fronts.
Swipe those angels broken
The Wii U was simply not for everyone. Even though at Bayonetta 2 you did not have to wave like a wild all the time as if you were at a music festival, the GamePad did not seem to have eternal life either. With the Switch, the controls are largely the same, but with the difference that the touch controls work properly this time.
During the gameplay for the preview, it was mainly experimenting with the different possibilities. The Joy-Con layout plays it safe, while tapping and swiping on the screen is a little more daring. Especially this last way is fun and a welcome improvement compared to the GamePad. This is not the only thing that has made the game progress.
Do not drool so!
Graphically, the Wii U was at a completely different level from its rivals and had to focus mainly on its unique approach. Especially with the fast segments of Bayonetta's hack 'n slash practices, a frame drop was not unknown. The Switch version has taken a step forward at this point. In panther form you shoot now as a bullet, instead of occasionally faltering.
The 60 FPS, polished textures and improved cut scenes are immediately visible. Even Bayonetta's own Danny DeVito, Enzo, looks like a gentleman while one dry joke passes after another. Movies left aside the gameplay looks even tighter. The first time you walk into the city of Noatun and see the sun reflect over the mountain in the water, wow!
For the rest, so far not much has changed in the game so far. It is still worth mentioning that there is Amiibo support in the game, which gives Bayonetta a different costume and a mountain full of currencies. In addition, the Tag Climax mode returns, but you can read how that works in the review that you can expect in less than two weeks!
Preliminary Conclusion
If the quality of the game continues like this, Switch enthusiasts can speak of happiness with what kind of good comes to the platform. Improved control, graphics and a few other features seem to take the timeless game to an even higher level. We look forward to what the game has to offer even more in the other chapters, you hopefully too!
Thanks for reading.
