I badly want to mine for altcoins and I am having issues with my gpu. any suggestions as to how i can just use my cpu to mine and still get something out of it. BTW, i am not mining for profit, just a hobby...
I did this a while back, 2 years or so, for Feathercoin and Worldcoin I think it was. That time I made about 1 coin in total, obviously completely worthless. But ok for the experience. Nowadays it does not make sense anymore and costs outweigh any return, electricity alone. If you just want to try, maybe Folding@Home from Stanford University is a place to have a look, at least you could use your computing power for a good purpose, and may still get some crypto coins in return.
