POETRY | DAY 1 | Once
Once, poetry by @naquoya. Day 1 of 100 for @d-pend's Poetry Challenge
Once
Once
It was just once
But it was enough
To reconcile
A broken world
A torn up soul
A tear that dried
But never born
And now
It feels complete
Not like the times
That came before
It should be
Perhaps it is
A resting for
The hand in need
So ask
That longing thought
The question wrapped
Left high and dry
To rot away
Too much ashamed
Your hope speaks forth
And never strays
Borrowed meaning
The beggars bluff
Spoken circles
That never cease
The spin
An endless game
And just once
I ceased to play
Reading Notes: For the purposes of the 100 Day Poetry Challenge, which is explained in more detail here and here, I would consider myself to be an intermediate level poet (at best). I have been writing for many years, but with no formal training. I just go with what feels right to me at the time. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.

The vortex of the mind stilled once, and with that one time, the lesson is learned that it can be done?
Indeed. A new seed planted, and a mind that has had a taste of stillness. Even if just a glimpse.
Hi @naquoya thanks for this entry! I enjoyed your use of short lines which seemed to imply some gravity to the phrases as I spoke this out. The piece definitely intrigued me as I read.
Placing you in the Intermediate category for now. All the best going forward!! Thank you for taking part!
Thanks for reading and sharing your thoughts. As soon I wrote the first word I knew it needed to be short and sharp lines. Just had that feel to it. Centres around the word once, I suppose.
I really like your succinct Style. I like how your word choice is always perfect. And I like how you kept the length of your lines short. The visual appeal of the poem is enhanced by your line breaks. Great job. My personal opinion is that you are Beyond intermediate.
I'm glad you think my word choice is always perfect. I'll try not to proove you wrong somewhere along the line! But I do seek out the right words, or phrases. Sometimes it works, sometimes I feel like it's not quite right, but this one I enjoyed. I was happy to start with this. And thank for the vote of confidence.
Hello @naquoya. It's interesting that time and reconciliation come back as a theme that haunts us all. What is going one when I write a poem and then I read my friends and we are writing about the same thing. I think the word is "Steemit".
I will need to read yours and see the comparison. My themes do have a tendency to repeat, although trying to broaden that now, with 100 poems to come. Don't want to bore my readers. Thanks for reading.
This is a great poem. I am a beginner, just wrote my 3rd poem ever xD
But, I'm glad you are sharing your mind with us, so we can learn faster and feel stronger... Keep writing your thoughts on paper and free your creARTivity ;)
See you at the class, Luka :)
Thanks for reading and leaving a comment. I appreciate it. When I get a moment I will take a look at your work. We're all in this together, learning along the way. I've been writing poetry for awhile, but rarely feel like I get it just right. Always a work in progress. Looking forward, despite the enormity of the challenge, to the next 100 days.
I enjoyed your poem. Are you hooked on the soccer game? LOL!
Thank you. It is just a photo of a game, the poem has nothing to do with soccer. It is the utilisation of a metaphor. It's not easy to find photos that show metaphors, so I had to go with something.
