Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II - The Fashion Statement of the World

Between Rome and Milan I found Milan a better city and attractive also. Rome was a little dirty also and very crowded, where as Milan looked very sophisticated. No doubt why it is called the Fashion and Design Capital of the World. One of the days, we visited the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II. I was so lured by the beauty of this place, but honestly I did not shop anything as it was all exorbitantly priced. Being on a holiday my preference is to spend on travel and food and local things which are not available in my own city and not on branded items which I would get in my city as well. But yes, watching it all under one roof is surely a delight and overall this whole place looks grand and larger than life.

This place was built in the 1800s. There were no concepts of Mall at that time and in those times this was the first enclosed shopping mall in the world and sooner became one of the most famous tourist attraction of Milan. No doubts the beauty of this place is to be admired. The mosaic floorings, glass ceilings and the dome all of it is very attractive.

After visiting the Duomo we were checking out what next to visit and this was just on the same street of Duomo. I was actually looking on the map how to reach there and then figured out, it was there itself. How foolish of me...hehehe. This is a place full of style and luxury and also can make you feel so little. Some times I wonder where does so much money come from. Ofcourse I know.... :-) But you feel that right, when you see so much luxury and your pockets cannot really afford them. Our hotel guy had also mentioned us to not buy anything or eat anything around in this place as the price would be almost double then in regular places, and he was right. I checked out the menu at few eatery places and the prices were much higher then normal restaurants on the streets. He had advised us that we should go just one stop away from this place and we would get things and food at half the price of this place. He was right.

You name the top brands and all are there in this place. I was feeling satisfied clicking pictures :-)

The shops were dazzling, each one of them had a fancy decor to attract.

This place truly defines luxury and style. A must visit place for every traveler to Milan.
