Ned has and controls too much stake.... I hope they are selling some.
To my way of thinking, steemit would have plenty of bills to pay, office, wages, devs, etc, mostly in fiat. Their income would be all in steem/sbd and sp. I find it quite understandable that they would be selling to cover expenses and @ned's hairdressers bill.
