Steemit Rollercoaster - 2 Months on Steemit
How Did I Arrive Here on Steemit?
Two months ago while browsing the cryptocurrency chat on Trading View I noticed everyone was talking about Steem. That place goes ape s@#% whenever there is any sort of pump and Steem had just been pumped to the 4th largest cryptocurrency by market cap. Quite a feat!
It is safe to say that without that pump I would not be here, so a sincere thank you to whomever is responsible.
After Steem was on my radar I read a couple of articles on the platform and decided to sign up. The rest is history...
My Time on Steemit
Life as a Steemian has been a rollercoaster ride right from the start.
After spending less than a day on the platform I liked it so much that I decided to invest monetarily. That first evening I purchased 1 BTC worth of Steem Power (about 650 USD at that time) and then I signed off for the night. The very next day when I returned to my new found toy...
I was locked out of my account due to the steemit hack. As you can imagine I was thinking to myself,
WTF is going on?! What an idiot I am for throwing a bitcoin at this s#$% box.
I created another account so that I was able to express my dissatisfaction to the community and communicate with the development team for assistance. To my surprise the whole process of regaining access to my account went rather smoothly - slow but smooth. In total I was locked out of my account for a little over a week. So at this point I liked Steemit, but had major reservations.
After recovering my account I began developing Steemit Pond and I was completely shocked when it received what in my opinion amounts to a massive payout. Nobody can receive a payout like that and not be absolutely hooked, thus whatever worries I had previously about Steemit vanished.
From that point on I committed myself to steeming full heartedly to see what would happen. I have had a few more successful posts as well as some major failures, but overall the experience has been extremely rewarding.
My Steemit Stats
I have put some serious effort into Steemit, so let's look at how I have fared thus far.
| Total Number of Top Level Posts | 43 |
| Estimated Time Spent Creating Posts | 102 hours |
| Estimated Hours Per Day | 2 hours |
| Total Payout for Top Level Posts | ~11,000 USD |
| Estimated Hourly Rate | ~107 USD per hour |
This isn't an accurate picture though. As you know there is not much we can do with SBD/Steem, so I have been converting my payouts to other cryptocurrencies which reduces the payout substantially. I am not powering down, but if I ever chose to do so an additional loss would be taken on those earnings as well. So let's just say I am able to get 75% of the total payout in USD or in some other crypto.
| Total Payout for Top Level Posts | ~8,250 USD |
| Estimated Hourly Rate | ~80 USD per hour |
Still pretty frickin great in my opinion!
My Future on Steemit
I will not be able to keep up the pace at which I have been posting on Steemit (real life beckons), but that doesn't mean I am not going to try!
I have 2 new ideas for dev projects that will be very valuable for the ecosystem and I hope I am able to get started with them over the upcoming months. If I do I will definitely need to take a break from actively steeming so that I can focus 100% on coding.
Of course all of this depends on Steemit's continued development void of any major issues that cause it to completely derail. I don't think that will happen though. Roadblocks will be encountered, but Steemit is just going to Steemroll right through them.

Thanks for this insight. Keep us posted on the roller coaster ride!
Great post, I look forward to reading more. Thanks for posting this! Steem On! :)
Muy bueno lo que publico, Me gusta, Muchas Veces me siento frustrado, Le dedico mucho tiempo, se me hace cuesta arriba, pero no se puede aflojar. Muchas Gracias Por este Material
Well done. For most the journey on Steemit is less rewarding. I look forward to your new steemit projects.
funny and good read! thx for this
Well hopefully the price of Steem comes back around and votes become more powerful. I have had a pretty good run on Steem too, but there is some serious uncertainty floating around. Not sure if the platform is gonna make it and if it does, will it just limp along? I am proceeding with caution.
Love the gif btw
Good luck I'm just starting out and its frustrating ect.. Ill give it a couple of weeks before I leave but like you said cant quit without giving it your all!!
