My EDC

in #prepping7 years ago

My EDC changes depending on where I'm going and what I'm doing. But the 2 things that never change are the gun I carry and the knife in my pocket.

I ❤️ my Glock 42! It's small and fits perfect in my hand. As a woman it's important that YOU choose the gun that's comfortable in your hand. I know a lot of men want to pick their wives, girlfriends, sisters gun but WE need to. I also carry a Kershaw knife in my purse. These knives are great, easy to use, and are small.

If I'm going to the park or somewhere I can take Charlie then I have a teacup werewolf with me! He's definitely added protection. I'll also take a walking stick that an old man made at a Prepper Expo I went to once. It'll put a hurtin on somebody if they try to mess with me or my Charlie!

99% of the time my husband is with me and he has his own set of EDC. So I feel safe and secure when out and about. Which can be dangerous in my town. There have been 2 women (separate incidents)who were attacked and the men tried to drag them into a large white van in the parking lot at Marshalls and Ross. Thankfully people came to their aid. A man at the local bookstore tried to fondle a woman while she was looking for a book! These are stores I go to on a regular basis. It's scary! So I'm not afraid to carry weapons and defend myself or someone else if need be!

Ladies I encourage you ALL to carry something to defend yourself with! Even my key ring is a weapon! I bought this on eBay for $5 or $6 a couple years ago. It comes in different colors or you can find different design.

I keep everything simple. I don't like a big and bulky purse anymore. I'm a actually looking for a new purse because this one doesn't have a conceal carry compartment. I'll do an update post when I find my new bag!

My EDC is a Taurus PT709 Slim. I actually prefer Glock but this particular gun has an actual safety and that makes me feel better with my kids running around. Now, they have been taught firearm safety extensively but you can never be too careful.

My first gun was a Taurus 22 pistol but it was the hardest thing to shoot. I could barely pull the trigger. I hate that gun. I think it's just that gun. I've had people look at it and they can't understand why it's so hard to shoot. So I have it in the car as a back up to the back up gun. I was a little nervous at first with the "no safety" thing but my son is 18 now and knows gun safety so it doesn't bother me as much.

Taurus has had an issue in the past with quality control, design/engineering and even manufacturing. They have really turned things around in recent years though. Glock 22 is my favorite pistol, that I own, nothing fancy just a good little work horse.

Awesome post! Is that a Kershaw Clash? Kershaw makes some really good knives at and at a good price too! This is an excellent post for preppers out especially the women out there I think it could help shine some light on why and how they need to be prepared. Thanks for the post. Keep it up! 👍👍👍
P.S. Charlie's a handsome pooch!

Maybe a Kershaw Whirlwind? I see it has holes in it now so it's not a clash. I like it though I also like your glock. I have an m&p shield and I love it as well.

Thanks! I can't remember what the Kershaw is called. I got it for Christmas a couple years ago. But it's a great knife. Charlie is my baby! Thank you!

I had a Ruger LCP for a while, but the darned thing was actually too small. I couldn't shoot it comfortably, so I didn't shoot it enough to get familiar with it. I ended up selling it.

Did you get another gun to carry? If not try out the Glock.

I haven't gotten another compact yet. I have several full size pistols, the Tokorev is the flattest one, being a single stack frame.
What I'm looking at the possibility of getting for carry is a shrouded hammer or hammerless 5 shot .38 revolver. That type of revolver will function from inside a bag or coat pocket without getting hung up in the process. A semi-auto is likely to malfunction if shot from inside a handbag pocket, giving you only the first shot. It's likely that the slide will hang up on the inside of the pocket and fail to cycle properly for a second shot.

Nice choices 👍🏻

That Charlie would discourage any would be assailant.
Your absolutely correct, guns should fit the individual. Not only the feel in the hand but also the caliber. Thanks for sharing.

O yes he can be vicious 🐺
Thank you!
