Part 52

“We obtained the freezing date of Selim Özben largely from the analysis of his dreams. The transformation of Selim Özben's dreams allowed us to find the date of his disappearance. When we focused on two years ago, it was a treasure-worth coincidence for us to come across our friend Önder Gülmez in the security camera records of the residence where Galip was living. When we reviewed the security camera footage in the city, we found that they met three times at a cafe in Nişantaşı. We also documented that they were exchanging cash during the last meeting. Galip's bank accounts had a large amount of cash withdrawal in recent history. So Önder Gülmez was able to market his consulting service to Galip at an astronomical cost. Besides, I have seen Selim Özben's body in the pod with my eyes and took pictures” I said. I was beginning to get bored with the explanation, so I was hoping that no new questions would be asked.

British member James Austin asked, “I wonder why Galip did not continue to publish the dreams as if Selim Özben was alive?”

“There was a solid bond between him and his mother, and her death shook him, and I guess he no longer found the power to continue his dream-release work. Esteemed members of the board, if you have any other questions, I would be happy to answer.”

“The mission seems accomplished,” said Tunç.

“I know that I owe the solution to our minister for his confidence in us and his continued support during the process. Also, I would like to thank my dear colleague Peri for her efforts by bringing her friendship and support.”

”On behalf of our delegation, we thank you," said Qian Chen, "We deserve to go out on the balcony and enjoy the view."

I planned to accompany Qian Chen on the balcony, but we were forced to go with Tunç because he called us. “I want to confess something to you,” said Tunç. Then he said, “I need other researchers like you.”

We looked at Tunç with the eyes asking.

"Known, conventional approaches sometimes do not work. No one could solve a case like this other than you. You will both be promoted,” Tunç said.

“My goal was not to promote. I just went after my curiosity.”

Peri smiled and said, “My purpose was to promote.”

"We need to be able to look at the world from a wide angle. I'm going to go on vacation for the first time in years," said Tunç.

“Bravo. I'm glad you remembered you are a flesh-and-blood human."

” I think I am, " said Tunç.

At the time of the dawn, when the day was beginning to shine, I woke up and got out of bed, dressed in a hurry, and threw myself out of the house. When I took off with my quadcopter, the city had not yet recovered its usual vitality. Because the morning news did not start, the radio was playing mild music that was suitable for the morning's calmness. A part of me was still asleep, and a part of me was trying to wake up and prepare for the day. The fog that rose from the city became visible to a certain extent because the sky began to shine. The giant Zeppelins looked like giant statues standing in the air. On the roofs of the skyscrapers below, the minicopters and quadcopters were rising, and in the twilight, they were heading towards the city. The meteorological towers looked like evil temples in the mist, stretching into the sky.

“Your outfit is too light for the morning walk, it's nine degrees outside, and you'd better buy a pill that will increase your body resistance,” said the quadcopter's artificial assistant. Contrary to my attitude towards my mother's advice, I immediately accepted the proposal and threw a pill in my mouth.
The flight track of Gülhane Park was almost empty, and I took a short walk down the quadcopter and reached the walkway with majestic plane trees in rows on either side. I stood by the road and breathed the air of the chilly morning laden with oxygen into my lungs. In the park, there was such a calm and soft atmosphere that it was comforting me as if I was born again. A few yellow leaves fell off the branches of the trees. In the morning, the large bodies of the crows nested on the branches, and the leaves resembling the hands of an old man exhibited a different beauty. I went slowly and started to watch the environment. Cleaning automatons were in a hurry to take place in the area dedicated to charging their batteries. Squirrels began to move in the branches of the trees. When I reached the middle of the road, the birds' orchestra started presenting the morning concert as I expected. I narrowed my steps and entered the Park Cafeteria. Behind the window of the cafeteria, a young man was playing a video game on his pocket computer. I clicked the window. He asked, “How can I help you?”

I said,” Can you give me a cup of coffee from the vending machine over there?"

“Our shift begins in two hours.”

I said,” There's no time for a big tip."

“Milk in coffee?” he asked me, "Yes, please" I answered.

“Are you on duty, brother, what are you doing?” asked the young man while taking the coffee from the vending machine.

I said, “I'm a researcher, and I'm accumulating impressions.”

He said,” I don't know much about all complex stuff, so let me ask you for my tip."

I touched my mobile computer and paid. He was pleased with the tip, “the impressions of these places are good, come again,” he said smiling.

A black crow floated with a piece of a minnow branch in his mouth and landed in his nest. He stretched his wings wide open to twilight.

When I was investigating Selim Özben, I realized that my mother was right about a lot of things. I was afraid of what would happen to me, so I kept my life confined to a narrow area, and I was scared to open my heart to different experiences and new people. The technologies we produced turned the world into an open-air prison. We were even trying to control the weather. The technology could influence our daily lives to a certain extent, the most brutal dictator on Earth was the man himself. It was hard for a person of my age to change, but at least I was going to try.
