in #informationfinding6 years ago (edited)

This post is an entry for the Information Finding Championship hosted by @apolymask.
The theme of this round is music, if you are interested in joining you can find more information right here.

This is a photo of my guitar. I have a history of getting guitars, getting too busy, selling them and end up buying a new one. So far, with my current job, I have had enough free time play it though. This guitar has been my favorite, by far. It is a Doboro with a steel and glass slider. I can get some real country sounds that are pretty exotic to these parts 😂 To me, music has always been an important part of my life. It has gotten me through some tough times and also made the better moments the best I could imagine.

As a Kid

So let's start with my first CD, don't laugh, it was the Digimon the Movie Soundtrack. I loved this soundtrack, and the best thing about it was, it introduced me to ska and a little punk music. Never would expect that now would you. But years later, I am still jamming to the Bosstones along with bands like Rancid and NOFX. Also, another source that got me hooked was Cowboy Bebop. The series turned 20 years old and this week, and it has been 20 years of bliss hearing the magic of Yoko Kanno and the Seatbelts.

High School

Okay, fast forward to late middle school, my older brothers introduced me to Sublime. They are one of my favorite bands and still are to this day. I can still remember summers back then learning how to play my first song, "What I Got." Those were some of the best nights, get off work, have a 40oz our instruments and not a care in the world. Nowadays, my favorite band of a similar flavor is the Dirty Heads, definitely recommend checking out their stuff.

Music to me Now, and My Family

These days, I jam to relieve stress from the day and maintain my sanity. I still need to find some people to jam with, in Korea.

Unlawful Music/Master Tonic

My brothers, on the other hand, are much more musically inclined. Starting with my oldest brother, the video I am posting is from the last band that he was playing with called Unlawful Music, he is the drummer by the way. The band that he is playing with now is called Master Tonic. You can follow that link to their stuff because FB won't let me embed that video. #deletefacebook

Darkoroth

Then my other older brother is currently taking courses in music and sound engineering. So, he is taking that knowledge to produce his music. His Dj name is Darkoroth, and this is a track he made with a long time friend Pyrogliphix, I am trying to convince them to both get onto Steemit and post shit on Dsound. Until then, you can find the rest of his work linked to their names.

EggNarok

Then, my brother from across the ocean, EggNarok. We went to college together, and he has been teaching himself about djing. He started by just mixing tracks for parties, and now this track is his first song made from scratch. I already posted this once before, but I feel like it belongs here as well.

For the Future

Right now, I just need to find some people to jam with and drink some beer. I am not shooting for anything musically. However, my brothers above, I recommend checking them out. They are making their lives about music, and I have been seeing them all grow. If you enjoy their music, please give them a like and share, it would be awesome to see my brothers realize their dreams!

I love to hear to its sound play @mr-bike and I wish you a good luck.

After a while, I might do a video of me playing the Doboro on open G with the slider. I have been meaning to play outside a convenience store and see what crowd I attract. Haha

Thats a good idea.. you never know what might surprise you will have from your steemers pal reaction. Can't wait to see you with your Doboro. Cheers.

Very nice music post, the get schwifty Pyrogliphix video, the parts I was able to see, (I hate the twirly little circle) was pretty cool looking, but I have a pretty poor connection for videos, so I got tired of watching the pausenia button.

Thanks, @bashadow. If Soundcloud works better for you, you can follow the link in his name and it shouldn't be as choppy. :)

Haha the Digimon sound track was great was also a fantastic show back in the day. Was going to ask what kind of guitar that was until I kept reading. Might have to youtube it to hear what it sounds like!

Yeah, I am not ashamed to admit that I listened to that soundtrack a lot as a kid. I was actually learning how to play it in open G through youtube tutorials. ha

I only know the basics of guitar. Just like new language learning, I suck at memorizing haha! Such talented musicians you have in your family. Santeria is the only song of Sublime I am familiar with and which I like. My brother is probably more familiar with them. He is into that kind of music.

Good luck with your entry!

Thank you! I am trying to make the time to sit down with it more and get some songs and tunes down in my head. Yeah, that is a pretty good song. I bet your brother and I would get along great then :)

I am sure you will. He is into a lot of genres and I am surprised sometimes that he will be listening to a whole album of artists from the 90s and it ranges from pop to what-have-yous.

That's cool to hear you play guitar, and those songs by your brothers are pretty dope. Also noticed the Cowboy Bebop reference.. One of my favorite animes! And the music is really good too. I also remember Digimon.. Man I was just a lil one when that stuff was coming out. Good memories! Thanks for the great entry! PS I gave your brothers a like as well on YouTube and soundcloud.

Thanks, they work really had on all their stuff. :) I Cowboy Bebop is just a universally liked thing. ha If you hear that intro song you just fall in love lol Yeah, I was big into all the animes as a 90s kid. ha

Word! What's one of your favorite animes outside of Cowboy Bebop? Did you see Samurai Champloo?
