Barbie's Poem

This is a poem by Babara, my second daughter. It reads kinda like prose but I am impressed that she is trying poetry at age 10. Her poem below breaks my heart a little and also makes me smile a little. My little girl is growing up. She didn't do well in her Grade 7/JSS 1 final exams and is re-taking the same classes she took in the last session. She is doing great with the new Grade 7 students but having a bit of a rough time with her former classmates who are now in Grade 8. I have been doing my best to encourage her and bolster her self confidence but she's gotta walk her way through the real-life processes in school on her own.
It's a new term
I repeated my class
My former classmates make fun of me
I feel like a failure
I will never give up
I will try to be better than before
I find out that I need to study more
And make up a timetable for reading
It's not working out then I realize
That I need to ask questions,
To understand properly
And become a better student in the future
Wow.... She wrote that. I could feel how she must have felt while writing that plus with her kind of determination she is sure to succeed even beyond those who is a step ahead. Let her know that it is not bad to fall, but when she falls she should stand up without delay..... Cheering for her #fighting 🙌
