The Pacific Black Duck - Quack!
The Pacific Black Duck is found not only in Australia but also Indonesia, New Guinea, New Zealand and some Pacific Islands. Despite it's name, it has more grays and browns than black. In fact, in New Zealand they call it they Grey Duck. It is one of the dabbling ducks and is closely related to the Mallard. (It is also distantly related to Daffy Duck) We get them here in Tasmania too but I photographed these ones up on the Murray River near Albury, New South Wales.
As with nearly all of my bird photos, they were taken with a Canon 7D and the Canon EF 400mm f/5.6 L lens.

Very well presented! I especially like the second one as it really shows how a duck waddles!
Thank you. Glad you enjoyed them.
Very beautiful and I love how it is smiling for you in the first photo :)
Thanks. It's smiling because my wife just fed it some cornflakes :-)
