The third traveller

in #travel9 years ago (edited)

Finally the weekend comes when our tiny family has a chance to stay at the summer cottage. It has been such bad weather nearly the whole summer that we have so far skipped getting cold at the summer place.

I think most of the Finns miss the peaceful nature and quietness during their holiday and I'm not an exception. Since last summer I've been waiting to get my dose of cottage life so I'm extremely happy.

Before my maternity leave I was planning and dreaming about a relaxed summer, having naps by the lake in a hammock but when the holiday finally started, I was in so much pain that I couldn't go anywhere. I spent almost the whole summer indoors, often in bed.

My parents cottage is not big or too fancy but it's right by the lake and you can run in straight from the sauna. There is also a zoo nearby so usually we make a day trip there as well. The bears in the zoo are pretty funny since they do all kinds of tricks for an orange or an apple.

This time we have the third traveller with us and I noticed there is a big difference when it comes to packing. The amount of stuff we have, oh my. How can a such a tiny person need all this? We needed a travel bed for her, since the cottage bed is not big enough for all of us, then for the little boat she of course needs her own life vest. The pram needs to come with if we make a day trip from the cottage plus she will have naps in it. Clothes for every possible weather condition, and then the food.

Because of her allergies we need to take the "special" foods with us, frozen. So all the breakfasts, snacks, lunches, dinners and evening porridges has to come with in huge cold bag. Seriously, I don't understand how we will fit in to the car.

Wish us luck!

Ps. Oops, I lied a bit. This is not the first time with a third traveller, but actually a fourth. The dog has always been the third.

Hugs, Momone

Thanks. The nature is really beautiful there.

Such a serene and peaceful place....
Makes the soul melt with the surroundings
What a blessing to witness the rainblow split the skies
May such places be preserved for generations to come!
