Good day community. Im glad to have completed my achievement 1&2. I am here to perform my next task which is CONTENT ETIQUETTE. I have read and understood what plagiarism means and I promise to produce only contents that are free from plagiarism.
First Lets know what Content Etiquette means
Content etiquette are set of rules, regulations and guidelines which a content writer is required to follow so as to accomplish a clean job.
Then what is Plagiarism
Plagiarism means using someone else's work or ideas as your own whether with their consent or not. In other words, plagiarism is the act of taking another person's work, it may be their conversation, song, writing even ideas that you present as your own. It can be intentional or unintentional.
Types of Plagiarism
<Global plagiarism: This is where someone takes an entire work by another person and present it as his or her own. An example is someone finds a text online and submit it as his own work. The person is actually committing a global plagiarism and is fraud.
<Verbatim plagiarism: This can also be called direct plagiarism where one will copy and paste a text into his work without attributing the original source. One may choose to change or remove some words but if structure are still same is verbatim plagiarism.
<Self plagiarism: This is where one reuse a work he has done before as a new work. He may have published this work previously and now present it as a new work in order to get another credit. It's a form of dishonesty that should be avoided.
<Paraphrasing plagiarism: This is known as rephrasing a piece of text in your own words. It is a common type of plagiarism. Though in itself paraphrasing is not so bad but one must cite the thoughts and ideas properly.
<Mosaic plagiarism : This can also be called patchwork. It means copying phrases, passages even ideas from different sources and then put them together so as to create a new text and work.
Ways to keep from from plagiarism
-Always keep track of the sources you consult when making research.
-Credit the original author in an in-text citation and reference list.
-Paraphrase or you can quote from your sources, nothing wrong in inciting your own ideas.
-Use plagiarism checker before submitting your work.
Conclusion
Plagiarism is a form of dishonesty thus should be avoided. When you incorporate anyone else work into your own work, you simply need to give them credit and provide an audience with information on how to find the original source.
