Have you ever asked yourself how graphic designers do this photo based mosaic collages?

Must be really hard to find photos that exactly match the space. In fact it is really easy and you can take almost any photos.

For making Photo CD-Covers you can make a collage with all the photos on top of a favourite image, which should have a high contrast or saturation to make it more exciting.

Make a grid

Lightroom has a print module which can arrange photos automatically in a grid. Of course it is better to match photos with a similar brightness. That’s why I made 8x8 grids with to be able to need the composition of the background image better. Of course you can do it also with Photoshop,if you do not work with Lightroom but it’s gonna be a lot of work.

The Photoshop Trick

In Photoshop put the photogrid on top of the background image and set the layer mix mode to "hard light" and set the opacity to around 60%, depends on the background image ;)

Muss doch verdammt viel Arbeit sein für jeden Bildbereich ein passendes Foto zu finden.
Mit einem Trick ist es ziemlich einfach und man kann dafür fast alle Fotos verwenden.

Um Foto CD-Covers zu machen, habe ich ein Raster mit allen Fotos gemacht und sie über ein Lieblingsbild gelegt, das einen hohen Kontrast oder eine hohe Sättigung haben sollte, um das Ergebnis spannender zu machen.

Mach ein Raster

Lightroom hat ein Druck Modul, das Fotos automatisch in einem Raster anordnen kann. Es ist besser Fotos mit ähnlicher Helligkeit zu gruppieren. Daher habe ich 8x8 Raster gemacht um diese später, je nach Helligkeit auf dem Hintergrundbild positionieren zu können. Mann kann das natürlich auch im Photoshop machen, wenn man nicht mit Lightroom arbeitet, aber das ist sehr aufwändig.

Der Photoshop Trick

Im Photoshop lege das Fotoraster über das Hintergrundbild und stelle den Ebenenmischmodus auf "Hartes Licht" und die Deckkraft auf ca. 60%, je nach Hintergrund;)
