🌃 Brooklyn Blue Hour Night Portrait 📸
While in NYC I happened to have my mobile portrait kit on me. So I figured why not take my nephews for a sunset photo shoot in Brooklyn. Mom and dad made sure the boys had a fresh haircut and I asked the boys to wear their favorite clothes.
Blue hour really doesn't last for an hour. More like 10 to 15 minutes at best! When shooting around this time I'll be happy if I get 2 or 3 solid shots. Especially during weddings when things can be chaotic.
Since I was using an off camera speedlight that was in a softbox, the auto focus assist was rendered useless. So I had their father flash a light on the boys so I can pick up the focus as it was super dark in this spot. I could have used a tripod and focused once and lock it in - but there were TONS of people out and about on this particular night and it wasn't feasible.
