You will pay DEARLY! - Random Thoughts
It's always pretty fascinating to me when I see beef on the blockchain. Not because I'm someone who likes to watch a fight...well I guess I do like that actually, but that's not what intrigues me. It actually just makes me think about the future of this platform and platforms like it. There's a sort of Black Mirror episode playing out in my head.
I think of powerful groups, even powerful families forming here. Ones that you have to be careful of because they can single handedly effectively deplatform people themselves, which in this techtopian future I'm imagining might ruin people lives if they were living off this platform and had no other income. What would that do to the psychology around here? I think about how angry people get on regular social media where the financial component isn't even there and what it would do to our society to have something like this but as far reaching as Facebook.
Would we be able to use our SP to pay for political campaigns, to bribe politicians, to influence geopolitics. Just imagine that all the people out there, the rich, the mega rich, the middle class and the poor were holding proportional amounts of SP. It's relatively worthless right now(compared to things that could have these sorts of effects), but it's not a limitation of this technology, it's just a limit to the amount of value/money here.
You might be wondering what this has to do with this drawing, and the answer is very little, but I drew it and it's what it made me think of. The brain works in mysterious ways. Do any of you daydream about the future here and where things could go in 10-20 years? Tell me about it. :D

Yeah... I do wonder! It makes me a little nervous actually, because people are unpredictable, except when it comes to power and money. Lol
That is usually predictable... But in the negative sense.
We tend to ruin cool things, don't we?
I'd like to think that this will all be the start of something wonderful, but it could just as easily be the beginning of the end..
Sad.. but hopefully there will be enough people who want to keep it strong and heading in the right way!

Realistically I think it will only add to the human story. While I think something like social media has had huge positive impacts on the world, I think right now especially we're seeing the other side of that coin.
I think it would be the same for this. For every new mini tyrant that could be born here, there would also be 20 decent people that would use their new found power for positive things. I think that's why this has the potential to overall be a larger net good. Because if this happened it would be a lot of "regular" people all of the sudden getting power.
In the "old world" rising to great power just about necessitates being immoral or at least amoral, but that's not the case here. It's more of a regular distribution of characters and personalities, and I think the vast majority of people are just decent people. At least I hope...
If this platform can stay up to 10years, I think I see it been a success. By then I would say that I would have gotten enough from it to invest in something non-crypto.
I'd have to agree from my current perspective, although I feel like we're going to be living in a very different world in 10 years.
Lots of tech is right on the edge of making a huge impact, I think in front are blockchain and A.I. Either of these could dramatically change the world as we know it in ways we can't even imagine yet. Like trying to imagine Bitcoin before we really knew about the internet. One breakthrough will lead to others in a domino effect.
Theres a lot of ways this could potentially go, and some chances for something near the radical concept you described. Imagine if steem caught on, or SMTs were widely adopted by networks like Facebook and YouTube and suddenly steem and steem dapps became this HUB for investors because of its high value and connection to this life changing technology.
This would really become a cut-throat place. Especially if steem somehow, and its possible though extreme, reached a value of 100 dollars or something CRAZY.
Even a meager account like mine could be worth 30,000 dollars suddenly. Whales at 800k or more would be 80 million dollar accounts. Your success here would be highly controlled and at the whim of each others giganticon dollars.

$100 seems crazy when we're sitting at .33 cents but it's actually not that crazy when you think about the fact that the entire crypto market is not even 1% of the stock market and Steem is a really small percentage of the overall crypto market. If say 15% of the stock market value came over to crypto and Steem became mainstream we could get to a place where 1 Steem = over $1000. This again is in a future where crypto in general is broadly mainstream, but yes, it would be nutso crazy black mirror like whoa.
People getting robbed IRL for their keys, Current Steemians being some of the richest people in the world. People here commanding life altering power O_O
Do you think its possible? If we reached even the value of HALF of that it would be pretty terrifying.
Man we would need to memorize it or some shit, or put on multiple passwords for actually doing things with their accounts like powering down or withdrawing, transferring. Man, I'm mostly afraid of the egos LMFAO. Yikes, flag wars would be something that could earn assassinations

It's possible, I don't know how plausible. There's a ton of variables, regulation, adoption of crypto in general, straight up luck, whether or not something better comes along, etc. But if the stars aligned just right...We'll just have to move to a space station for super rich people and let everyone else eat each other ¯_(ツ)_/¯
