Chapter 6

In the days they spent waiting for Anton, Hazel read the Grimoire her search party had discovered when they searched Jack’s house.

Then she read the Journal her search party had found in the house and it helped her to understand many things.

It was unfortunate that she had not taken the time to read the journal before making a deal with the Throwback’s father, David, but she decided that it would have made no difference to the outcome, except that perhaps she may have executed David before he had led them close enough to the laboratory.

Hazel read of experiments the Throwback had made - his experiences and the murders he had committed in the name of ‘research’.

She was aghast at the range of scenarios he had thought up in order to get close enough to a Wolf and give them cause to change.

She was also worried at some of the situations Jack had gotten himself in to. By rights, bringing himself to the attention of Wolves should have brought nothing but a similar fate to the curious cat.

However it had not, and he had appeared to have witnessed many Wolves going about their usual business – that of slaughter and feeding on defenceless Humes.

Hazel read through the daily journal and a few entries caught her eye and she thought to find out more of the events described.
