Importance of napping.

A moment of rest is usually done after eating. Let's see some data that attest to the importance of napping.

The dream has repairing effects on the brain, increasing the neurocognitive capacities. The result is flagrant if we compare a person who does not nap and another who does.

A small time of sleep favors the creativity and productivity of workers. Refreshes the brain acting on psychic abilities. Performing the same exercise of concentration and memory, a worker who has taken a nap shows more mental abilities than another worker who has not slept. Sleep also favors memory.

Knowing that nighttime sleep is vital to a man's health, the nap should not be left aside. Whether in children, adolescents, adults or elderly people, men or women, the nap allows you to recover energy, dynamism, joy of life and above all good humor.

It is best to rest after lunch, between 1:00 and 5:00 p.m. Several studies show that the period of greatest sleepiness is in that time slot. In addition, the circadian rhythms suffer a fall precisely between three and five in the afternoon.

In any case, the real nap should not exceed thirty minutes, since in that case can have negative effects on concentration and other abilities with a significant difficulty on awakening.

  • It facilitates learning. Nap increases your learning ability by ten percent.

  • Increase concentration. There are numerous studies that show that napping (even six minutes) helps to improve any task that involves remembering lists of words or objects.

  • Stimulates creativity. A team of neurologists at Georgetown University has found that napping increases creativity or, at least, stimulates the activity of the brain area (the right hemisphere) that is associated with this ability.

  • Improves reflexes. A NASA study of 747 pilots showed that those who slept a 26-minute daily nap committed 34% fewer errors at work and doubled their alert levels.

  • Fosters positivity. Those who nap and go through the REM phase increase their receptivity to the facial expression of happiness, while those who do not show more anger and fear.

  • Improves mood. Serotonin is a neurotransmitter that regulates sleep, appetite and mood. And sleep floods our brain with serotonin, which gives us a sense of satisfaction and well-being.
