My journey in Greece (Thessaloniki) day 4
I only managed to take this photo of the sunset, which doesn't really show the sun, but you can see Aggia Sophia in a beautiful, dim light.
Yesterday was incredible! I got to meet a couple of really passionate teachers at the School of Architecture and I'm excited to work with them. It's amazing to see people who put their heart and soul into what they are doing. You can literally see their soul pour out when they speak and yesterday I got a huge amount of positive energy. Can't wait to start work on the projects and to talk with them and learn everything I can in this quite short period of time.
The courses didn't take long (mainly because time was flying while the teachers were talking beautifully) and we went on for a long walk through the area next to the campus.
As you might be used by now, I found another bunch of cool looking graffiti throughout the day. One of them really impressed me. It's very tall, on the facade of a block of flats, and it shows quite a lot of meaning and symbolism. I'll let you discover all details in the photo ;)
As for monuments and fascinating buildings we found a good couple of them. First we saw a statue of a man with a very long name. Apparently, he was the chief of Macedonia, so here he is. His name is read D. Tsamkapatasos. I don't know if I mentioned it yet, but I am trying to learn Greek right now :)
Going back to buildings, here is the Rotonda, an old church built in the 4th century AD, which throughout the history was converted to a christian church by having additional areas added. Also, in the picture you can see an Muslim influence with the tower right next to it. We'll have to visit it some day, it was sadly closed at that moment.
The last two buildings I didn't yet understand what they are in detail. The second one is a church, a very beautiful one indeed, but the first one I don't really know. I'll have to look it up. It's really hard not to find something wonderful in the center of this city :)
Because I lacked quite a bit of sleep I didn't get to do any drawings, but I bought a book by Stephen King from a cozy library. It's all in Greek and I will start translating it bit by bit. It's the Mist. I haven't read it or heard of it before, so even better :)
That's it for now! Hope you enjoyed my experience and photos!
I'll see you really soon! Have a great time friends!
