Silver Coins from Around the World - Part 3
Showing off a couple more pieces I got for generic price based on Actual Silver Weight. Today we've got another piece from Great Britain, and one from the Netherlands.
Let's start with the coin from the Netherlands. It's from 1956 and is a 1 guilder. Guilder of course, is the sworn enemy of florin.
The other side features Queen Juliana. This one caught my eye because the dark spots make it look like she has a moustache and goatee.
Next is a sixpence from 1920. Oh look, there's George on the obverse.
On the reverse...um... Looks like a crown. maybe a lion with a weird tail? And what looks to be several severely abbreviated words. I can only assume it stands for "Fiduciarily Defiant; Indefensibly Impish", which of course was the British national motto until 1943.

I grew up with Juliana. I believe the guilders and larger 2,5 guilders (rijksdaalder) are 72% silver.
