DTube Thoughts - Conventional VS Blockchain???
Hey Guys!
I feel like i'm in a bit of a crossroads in my life at the moment. I've been waiting for so long to finally get my EP recorded and i wrote 100 songs to finally break it down to just my 4 favourites, I got them recorded professionally and was so excited and now that i finally have it i'm thinking what now??? I haven't even released it yet it's literally just been sitting here since January... I originally wanted to be an independent artist but now i'm realising that CD's are pretty much extinct, Alot of people don't even use iTunes anymore as everything is just streamed in this day and age and well...spotifi is like 0.0006 cents per play or something crazy like that. So i'm starting to think if you aren't signed or have a manager maybe releasing it on the blockchain might be the way to go? Well i'm just going to sit on it awhile longer while i figure out the best way of going about it...

You have 4 really good songs that you professionally recorded, hold on to them for a while until you figure out what is the best way of releasing them, because hardly anyone buys songs from itunes now, CD's are on the way out, Spotify as mentioned is great for the listeners but lousy for the musicians 0.0006 cents for each play. But with blockchain technology who know's what opportunities for singer/songwriters and musicians etc might end up being available in time. Glad your not rushing into things :)
As soon as you make your decision let me know so I can feature one of your new songs on my show for some promotion! :)
Thanks your reply on my comment on your early video :) That's the one thing I find tricky with DTube, is navigating comments. Excited to here your studio recordings :D
My two cents: Music streaming is most probably the future, so that choice is made for you, because if not now then the future. But it seems like artists nowadays have to complement that with social media outreach. Use steemit and other social media to build and grow a following, by keeping your fans informed about the music production process, about the album release and your life in music.
As it is, I don't think there's any existing method to consistently reap revenue from blockchain methods, so it might be a higher short-term vs lower long-term returns solution.

It’s such a difficult decision but time is on your side. So many Independant artists struggle with the same thoughts. There are actually several blockchain powered projects you might find as a place you can distribute your music. Dtube / Steemit is a place to build your audience and promote your ongoing distribution. Check out https://lbry.io/ but there are plenty of other options out there or in development.
