Advice for Young Musicians: Play What You Can Afford ...and Play Your Heart Out
If you're a musician starting out, it's important to be the best musician you can be.
You may not be able to afford the best gear when you're starting out. Do not let that stop you. There are some great inexpensive products that perform well. Here are some that I have used.
Joyo
Joyo makes great products, and they are not expensive at all. This is the Vintage Overdrive. I recently reviewed this pedal which is very similar to a Tube Screamer.
They have a great tuner, which you can see on my Pedalboard below.
Vox MV50
50 Watts of amazingly great sound from this little guy. And, yes, I've gigged with it 😊 Go through my posts here to see it in action. It is $200 US - that's a hard deal to beat.
Modern Player Telecaster
$499 US
Fender almost had a perfect guitar here. I've made changes to mine, but if you're on a budget, it will gig just fine in live situations. This is my "go to" guitar at the moment.
Let's face it, we all love gear. The more, the better 😊 But don't feel you have to "break the bank" to get gig worthy gear...just go play your heart out. ✌🏾
I'm thinking great gear is something that's more important for the player than the listener. The avarage listener won't hear the difference anyway. But for the player, it means the world - if you get that great sound from the great gear, you find some deep inspiration that will lead you to play things you wouldn't play otherwise.
You can still sound great with less than optimal gear, but you might never get those sounds that take you to the next creative level.

And also practice ,practice and more practice. You're right play with your heart, that's the most important. Because if you do not love what you are doing, it will show up in your performance. Some people learn to play musical instruments just to be cool but the real rockers know if you're legit or not. Keep rocking dude! Rock on!
